September came around and it was a few weeks in. Sera, Ava and Jace were having dinner at his mom’s house. Ava was with Sades in the living room, eating their food while they watched some fairly tale, kid friendly show. Sera and Jace sat in the dining room along with his mom and sister while they ate. Ms. Harrison made garlic butter steak bites with fried honey pinched noodles. Sera were eating much faster than the rest of them. When she finished her meal, she began eating from Jace’s plate as well.

“You can slow down love,” Jace told her. “I won’t fight you for it.”

“It tastes really good,” she responded.

“I’m gonna run to the grocery and come back,” Jessie told them.

“Can you buy me a few muffins while you’re there?” Sera asked her.

“Okay,” said Jessie as she got up.

“Not the blueberry ones. I’m feeling for chocolate,” she confessed. They all stopped and looked at her as she stared back at them while shovelling noodles down her throat. “What?” she asked with her mouth half full.

“Hiya love,” Jace whispered to her with a smile.

“Oh God,” she whispered to herself as she realised what they were all hinting at.

“For a doctor you’re slow,” Jessie joked.

“Can you get me a few pregnancy tests as well?” Sera asked nervously.

“Gotcha,” Jessie responded before leaving with a broad smile across her face.

“I don’t want you to get your hopes up, okay,” she said holding his hands. “I’m really scared.”

“If it’s true, we’ll be fine,” Jace assured her as he kissed her upon her greasy lips. “You believe there’s a God looking down on us, don’t you?”

   “Yeah,” she said nodding.

“Then believe he wants us to be happy,” Jace told her as she leaned up against him. He placed his hand over her shoulder as she cried. “Everything happens for a reason, Sera. If I hadn’t gone into a coma, you wouldn’t’ve met Elena and became her friend. You wouldn’t’ve had Ava.”

“Then why did I suffered two miscarriages?” she asked him.

“God saw how beautiful and perfect they were and he just wanted to have them all to himself.”

“No one has ever explained it like that before,” she said crying. “I love you like crazy for saying that.”

“And I love you always,” he told her as he wiped her tears away. “Everything will be okay. I just know it.”

Ms. Harrison sat across from them, saying nothing to ruin the moment. She was proud of herself and the man she raised. She couldn’t have asked for a better son. He was the man she wished every woman had. Jace held Sera, comforting her until Jessie came back with the tests. They went up together with Jace following behind. She sat down on the toilet with the shower running while Jessie and Jase stood outside the door. After a moment, she came back out with almost no expression on her face. Then she flashed three different pregnancy tests near their faces and they were all positive. Sera began screaming and jumping for joy while Jessie joined her. Jace took a few steps back, leaning up against the wall.

“I’m gonna be a dad,” he whispered almost to himself.

“Hey,” Sera muttered as she hugged him. “We’re gonna have a kid. Half of you and half of me,” she said smiling.

“If he or she takes for all of you, I’d love them even more,” he told her as he hugged her back.

“And here I am hoping he or she, comes out exactly like you,” she confessed.

“Finally, I’m gonna be an aunt,” said Jessie as she joined in on the hug.

They called her parents afterward and they told them the good news. Her sister Julia seemed more excited than everyone else. Mr Davis told Jace he was tired of having girls and a grandson would be much appreciated. Sera didn’t care about gender neither did Jace. They just wanted to have a healthy pregnancy. They all spent the night together in celebration of a life they believed would soon join their family. Ms Harrison told Jace and Sera how happy she was for them. Jace called his sister, Lucy, and shared the good news. She just wanted to hug them both. Helen congratulated him as well as Frank who just wanted a drinking buddy. While everyone smiled and congratulated them, Sera hugged him and she kissed him as passionately as she did all the other times before.

“I was thinking about a name I had in mind if we had a girl,” Jace told her with his arms around her.

“Really,” she said surprised. “That was fast,” she joked.

“Destiny is a good name,” he told her. “It means we’re meant to have this baby.”

“I love it,” she admitted. “How about Benjamin for a boy?” she suggested.

“Okay,” he said kissing her. “He better not be ageing backwards,” he then joked.

“You wanna disappear and practice for baby number two?” she asked him with a broad smile upon her face.

“Oh yeah,” he whispered with a smile.

They left everyone as they were as they hurried along to their home. Ava didn’t bother noticing as her eyes were glued to the T.V. When they got home, they couldn’t keep their hands off each other long enough to even reach the stairs. They just laid upon the living room floor next to the many cardboard boxes that still needed to be unpacked. As they continued stripping each other’s clothes off, Jace rolled to his back while Sera got on top. She glanced for a moment toward one of the boxes, noticing a brown fur jacket halfway hanging out. She smiled as she stared at it, pausing momentarily.

   “What’s wrong?” Jace asked, concerned.

“Do you remember this?” she asked him while stretching her hands toward the jacket.

“My old jacket,” he replied, smiling as she grabbed hold of it. “I haven’t seen that thing in years. I can’t believe you kept it.”

“I remember freezing my ass off the day you gave it to me,” her voice almost breaking. “You told me to take it so I’ll remember you, at least when it’s cold. I wore this thing every year in college. Even when you weren’t around you were taking care of me.” Her eyes filled with tears as she finished.

“I didn’t think you’d wear it,” he admitted, wiping away her tears. “I just wanted to be part of your life no matter where you went.”

“You were always part of my life,” she said giggling, “and you always will be, now that I’m carrying your big headed baby.”

“Our baby’s head will be just fine,” he laughed. “It’s your sweet-tooth we should be worrying about.”

“I love you,” she whispered, “I love you, I love you.”

“I know,” he said, kissing her slowly upon the lips afterward. “I love you like crazy.”

“I believe you,” she said to him. “How about we do less talking right about now?”

“Okay,” he answered with a grin before making love to her.
