It was the twelfth of May of two thousand and twenty-three. Sera and I had welcomed our baby boy early in the morning, around six. We spent the first few hours of the morning in Claymon Hill hospital with her friend, Sofi, keeping an eye on her. Sofia and Sera hadn’t seen each other in years and had lost each other’s contact. When Sera found out she was still a doctor, she requested her to be the one to deliver our kid. Sofia told us she got married three years ago and had two daughters of her own. She showed us pictures of her lovely family. They both began apologising to one another for not being better friends.
Both of our families came to meet us with gifts. They kept their eyes upon Sera as she held our son in her arms. Mr. Davis cried along with his wife when they first saw their grandson. My mom and sister kept smiling the whole time. Julia was so excited to be an aunt; she even bought baby clothes that said “Aunt’s favourite Nephew.”
After we got cleared, I took them both home. We lay alongside each other in our bed. We kept our gaze upon our most precious creation as he laid peacefully on his stomach at the centre of our king sized bed. Sera was still in a bit of pain but it didn’t matter to her. As long as our miracle was healthy and safe, she would bear the world of troubles with ease. We both stared at the life we loved even before he came entering the world. Ava laid on the other side of the bed, smiling at her little brother. She was extremely quiet for she feared she might wake him from his slumber.
“Now our life is complete,” Sera whispered to me as I hugged her from behind. “I still can’t believe it. That’s what our love brought us.”
“I was thinking; how long must we wait until?” I wondered.
“I can’t believe that’s what you’re thinking about,” she said upset.
“I’m kidding,” I then said whispering. “You fulfilled all my dreams. You remarried me last month and now you have given me him, I’m content.”
“Six weeks,” she then said.
“Really?” I said with a smile. “I know you were thinking it,” I finished. She began laughing as I kissed her face and neck.
“Ewe,” Ava said covering her eyes.
“If you think that’s ewe,” I replied, “wait until you learn where you came from.”
Sera struck me almost immediately with her elbow near my chest when she heard what I said. “You’re a clown,” she told me, staring into my eyes.
“Yeah, I know,” I whispered, laughing. “I’m your clown,” I told her before she kissed me back while Ava continued to cover her eyes.
