I lied. I lied because i needed to avoid what was about to happen. "I was just thinking of something i heard someone say..." Perhaps coming up with this excuse was my chance to get the answers that i wanted. He let me continue. "This group were talking about how you got into so much trouble with the High Ones. I guess it's the curiosity that's bugging me."

"It was a few months ago. Maybe over..." He looked up and shrugged one of his shoulders. "4 months now, but i still don't exactly know why The High Ones took it so offensively." Adrian explained, shifting a section of hair away from his eyes.
"What happened? Why did they react that way?" In my mind, i was praying that he would give me a straight and honest answer, if he didn't, it would just make things even more hard to understand. Not that i needed to. But i wanted to understand. President Lans said that the serum in Adrian's blood was dissipating and slowly failing to keep his body safe for New Earth. A ringing in my soul was telling me it couldn't be true and even my eyes could see that Adrian's health was just as normal as any other Red Blood. I needed to know if there was something more, to see if Lans was covering something up.

"I stayed overtime in the library at school and i was walking through the building to find the open exit since most of them had closed." I nodded in response. "It was dark and empty but somehow i managed to find one of my friend's key cards on the ground outside one of the labs she was working in. I guess curiosity took over and i used it to get into the lab..." He spoke like he found this memory rather fond and harmless. I continued to listen in silence. "It wasn't a normal lab at all, not like one i had ever seen. The whole place was lit up by this blue light, there were thousands of test tubes full of weird liquids and rows of blood samples. There was even a hospital bed with metal retrains on it like it had come straight out of a mental asylum."

His story made general sense but it didn't make sense as to why The High One's went to such high measures as a consequence of him walking into a lab. "The liquids on display were labelled with different things like 'Strength x8' or 'IQ x30'. I had no idea what they were for, all i know is that they had a weird name, something like Neptune-Kratos...? It kinda sounds like our Erebus-Kratos." His words trailed off, like he was fumbling with his thoughts. "I think they were producing a new line of the serum. " He then awkwardly laughed. I had never felt more confused, why were they wanting to kill him over this? What were they creating in that lab? "Anyway, now they have to use like serious eye scanners and thick locked doors to grant access their Labs. I guess they really don't like people like us to invade their work spaces."

I honestly had no idea what to think and i wouldn't let it phase me. As ridiculous as the situation sounded, i wouldn't be up for questioning the actions of The High Ones or President Lans, perhaps there was more to Adrian's story that he isn't telling me.

The cold window showed me the view of Asteria as the train got further and further away from the city along the horizon. Its tall buildings and unique architectures glowed with a purple, iridescent hue against the darkening dusk of the amber sky. I would have sat beside Linerra, but we agreed she deserved 2 seats to her self because she looked half-asleep before we even left the space exhibition. Adrian sat on the row across from me his friend already asleep next to the window. He had music from his Ear-Pods blasting into his ears. Music was also not a common thing in the facility, there wasn't much time for it thanks to the training we have to do. I looked over at Adrian and became bewitched by his side profile. God, i have a staring problem. He was like the song of a blood thirsty siren. He was the evil hidden within a shimmering serpents' eye. Slowly he turned his head, tired and extremely calm. "Want one?" He reached for one of his ears, taking out one of his Ear-Pods and reached it over it to me. I gently nodded my head, gratefully smiling as i placed it in my ear. He was so soft spoken, so different from what i knew.
