Chapter 2 - Friendship

Tine's Pov:

I woke up to the same ceiling, everyday was the same in the orphanage. We would wake up, take a bath, and eat. Then we'd have a dose of daily learning and then we'd go out to play. Some people came and adopted some kids, and some went home empty handed.

I never knew my parents. I had no memory of them. The people here told me that my mother passed away giving birth to me, and my father left me. So I was raised here in the orphanage.

I was only friends with my roommates, Fong and Ohm who were also left by their parents. We'd stay up late, while everyone else slept, we'd sneak some snacks and ate them while telling stories, and laughing. I enjoyed their company.

I was very smart. Everyone in the orphanage knew. I was always aware of possibilities, and made sure everyone and everything was good. Everyone looked up to me because of that. I was like the elder brother of the orphanage.

I helped out a lot, and I felt important, unlike how I used to feel knowing my father had left me.

I was playing in the garden when I saw miss Taylor, a staff in the orphanage, also a good friend of mine, bring a child into the orphanage. As the responsible one, I decided to watch him.

He seemed scared, and shy. I knew he had lost his parents somehow, and was brought here. I pitied him. He looked so glum, and fragile. I could see his fingers trembling and his eyes looked hurt.

I never met someone like him. All the children here were jolly and friendly, he was different. But I liked it. I enjoyed change and difference. I saw her bring him up to my room, I realized he was gonna stay with me and my roommate friends. I was so happy.

I wanted to take away his pain and sadness. I wanna see his smile. I couldn't see how he looked like because his head was usually low, but I could see the pain and fear he felt. I promised myself to make him happy. As soon as miss Taylor left the room, I approached her.

"Who's that?" I asked curiously.

"That's Sarawat. Poor fellow lost his parents in an accident. He seems very lost and sad. Typical reaction for a kid who lost his parents at a young age."
"Be a dear, and make friends with him. I'm sure a lovely boy such as yourself would make him feel better, ok? And tell Ohm and Fong as well. He needs as much help as he can get. Poor boyy."

She replied to my question.

"Ohh, I see. Sure I'll do that!" I said in an instant. I wanted to be friends with him so bad. I never felt this way before, but I knew that I wanted to make him feel better.

"Thank you, I'm sure you'll be great friends" said miss Taylor and patted my head. She then walked away and went to the staff's room.

I quickly went to my room, and I quietly opened the door and went inside. He was sitting by the window, watching the kids play outside.  I heard him sigh, and it was the first time I heard his voice. I don't know why but it made my arm hair fly.

I found myself staring at him watch the window for a couple of minutes, then I realized I needed to speak with him.

Hi! My name is Tine. What's yours?"

I quickly said behind him.  He then turned around to reply. Finally I could see his face clearly. Woww, he was soo handsome. He had chocolate brown hair that flowed around his head. His Hazel Brown eyes made me wanna get lost in them. He was slightly taller than me, and slim fitted. He had a sharp pointed nose, and his lips looked so luscious. I knew that when he grows up, girls would crush over him.

"Hello, my name is Sarawat, Nice to meet you" he replied to my question. His voice was so gentle, yet you can hear the sadness in his voice, but it sounded so sweet.

I smiled at him, hoping that he smiled back, I then said

"Nice to meet you Sarawat! Are you new here?" I asked him sweetly. I heard I slight chuckle escape his lips, it was the first time I heard him laugh. Finally I heard his laughs. I felt so happy that I was the one who made him laugh after all that he had been through.

"Yes, I am. I lost my parents in a car accident last week, so now I'm staying here." He replied slowly.

I know, the words echoed in my thoughts. I felt sorry for him. I may have lost mine as well but I didn't know them. He probably loved his parents and had a happy life with them, now he's stuck here, and has to live his life with another family. Hopefully they love him just like his old parents did.

"Ohh, I'm sad to hear that. Well welcome to our orphanage! There's lots of kids here! I can be your friend!" I said cheerfully.

I really wanted to be his friend. His roommate and first friend in the orphanage. I hoped I made him happy here in any way. He looks like someone who deserves so much happiness. His frown ruins the beauty of his face.

"Really?! You want to be my friend?" He asked me hopefully. He sounded excited that I wanted to be his friend. It made me happy.

"Yeah! I would love to!" I exclaimed.

All I wanted was for us to spend our days here having fun and being happy. I was responsible among the other kids, but with him I wanted to do everything and forget being responsible. I don't know why I feel this way. I just met this strange person. But it excited me, it gave me feelings which I don't know, I'm not familiar with this. But all I know is that my life is changing. Now that I met him.
