Chapter 4

Alice's Pov:

I sat up but it was painful he might have cracked my ribs "Alice...Are you OK?" Tommy asked crouching down to my level "I think he has seriously hurt my ribs." He nodded, I looked over to Ada her lip was bleeding "Us Shelby girls never have it easy." I state as me and Ada start giggling "Come on you lot you can all stay at ours it will give aunt Pol peace of mind." Tommy said as I tried to get up but couldn't move without my ribs hurting "Erm...Tommy you might have to carry me there." I laughed through the pain.

We got back home and Tommy placed me down on my bed. He looked at me and thought for a second "Alice...You are so brave and I was wondering how about you starting homeschooling?" I smiled and nodded too weak to say anything and with that he left.

I was unable to get to sleep the entire night but my ribs were a lot better they must be just bruised. I tried getting out of my bed and the pain was bearable so I took it easy as I tried to get to the kitchen when I stumbled down the last few steps "Alice?...Oi...What are you doing up?...And why are you on the floor? ey" Tommy asked from the kitchen, why was he still up shouldn't he be asleep too? He helped me up and walked me to the kitchen table "I...I...I wanted a drink..." I lied, he looked at me and I knew he could tell I was lying. He gave me a serious look trying to get me to tell the truth, "And..." he stated, it was obvious he knew something was up "I couldn't sleep okay...and I don't want to be home-schooled. Yes I fear our uncle and father but they will be out of our lives now, so why do I need to be home-schooled?" He just looked at me with curiosity "If that's what you want, then we'll get you signed up tomorrow"
