Chapter 9

CAELON

“Stop!” I smirked as I buried my face upon her chest. Aila writhed under me, her chest heaving while she breathes harshly, “Please stop, Caelon.”

I smiled, pulling away from her to gaze at her almost naked body. We arrived in Japan an hour ago and after exploring the small town of Magome, I decided to bring her to my cabin up the mountain trail of Nakosendo. The historical place was perfect for her to adjust, away from the advances of technology that she faced in Paris. This is the perfect town for us to spend our honeymoon.

Aila held out a finger to touch my cheek and I leaned closer, rejoicing at her touch, “Aila, I am just letting you take a break. But after that, there is more.”

“Why can’t we just explore the town like we did earlier, Caelon? It is still bright outside.” I leaned down and brush my nose on her cheeks, letting her vanilla scent intoxicate me. The feeling of remorse captured me but my chest tightened with excitement. I growled, gritting my teeth as I captured her lips in a passionate kiss. Aila whimpered, pulling away, “Is this how we spend a honey moon? What exactly are you planning to do with me, Caelon?”

“You are my wife—”

“I know that! But I am not stupid to let you use me to how you want to. I cannot just succumb to anything that you do without explaining to me.” She pushed me back and covered her body with the blanket that cover the floor. “I am married to you. You are my husband. I agree to this marriage because I can feel something towards you. I didn’t ask you if you feel the same way, and I won’t insist that you should. I just want you to respect me at least. Can’t you be more gentle?”

Her words surprised me and it left me in turmoil. I suddenly felt embarrassed of my actions that I got to my feet and left her,  heading outside. The light spring rain awakened the insects and the gentle whistle of the wind calmed me down.

Aila was right. Why did I react that way?

I ran my hands through my hair and sigh. I lost all my control when I am with her. I want to consume her, to mark her as mine the moment I have sealed the marriage contract with her. I want her to worship me, to follow anything that I ordered her to do because that is the only way that I know. That is my only option to keep her under control and stop her from following Hades and killing me.

The feeling of soft finger against my warm skin made me shiver and I turn to see Aila, her face bashful. She looks so beautiful in the twilight, her red hair glowing in the sparse light. I didn’t realize how late it has become since I left her inside. She must have been worried which is why she followed me outside.

I gave her a shrug before leaning down to kiss her lips but she turns, “Caelon, why did you marry me?”

I sigh, “I need your help and you need mine. You have to locate your parents and I can do that with Emyr’s wind. In return, I need you to not kill me, and the only way to stop you from doing that is to marry me.”

“But I won’t kill you. Whether you marry me or not, cupids are not bound to hurt anyone.”
