Night had fallen onto the circus.

The sky was colored in deep colors of dark blue, purple, pastel pink and yellow orange.

You could call it the blue hour, the time when the sun sets.

But unfortunately, the imagination of the sky only lived in the minds of the animals, and the crossovers too.

None of them had seen the sky since they were brought into this hell, let alone breathe fresh air. How could they, if all they did was being stuck in their cages unless they were out in the arena?

Soobin and Taehyun were by then already rather sleepy, exhausted from the day, and expected no one else to come at this point, thinking that everyone would be left in the chained room. So they decided to settle down for the night.

Just as they were about to close their eyes, laying right next to each other, the cage door slammed open once again.

Three yelps and thuds were heard, and the iron bars shutting.

"Sleep well cats," one of the keepers barked.

Soobin looked up to see everyone else.

"Yeonjun hyung?" he called out.

"Everyone's okay Soobin. We treated Beomgyu."

The purple haired's eyes fell onto the ravenet, who glanced at him with a reassuring gaze. All his wounds had thankfully been sealed.

"It's okay hyung; I know that you were under the drug's effect," Beomgyu said.

"But I almost kill—"

"Hyung."

A small smile crossed Beomgyu's features.

"You're already forgiven. Please stop dwelling onto what happened; I'm fine now."

"Yeah Soobin hyung; we took good care of him!" Hueningkai exclaimed.

Relief washed all over Soobin, and a tiny smile formed on his lips.

"Okay."

Suddenly, all five crossovers heard extremely loud screeching, hisses, and then, the sound of knives slashing.

It was the most horrid sound any of them had heard.

Well, maybe not all of them.

Soobin, Yeonjun and Beomgyu all looked at each other, knowing exactly what just went down two rooms away from them.

"Hyung, what was that?!" Hueningkai asked.

"Don't worry about it," Yeonjun hastily replied.

"Let's just sleep," Beomgyu agreed.

"We'll give extra cuddles," Soobin offered.

"Nah, Taehyun is a better cuddle buddy."

"Hey!"

Taehyun laughed, proud of himself.

He and Hueningkai crawled towards the end of the cage and laid down to sleep, already beginning to cuddle like the babies they are.

"Night night hyungs!" the youngest of the five said.
(A/N: I love Tyunning so much 🥲)

To the three eldest's relief, Taehyun and Hueningkai fell asleep rather quickly, and also didn't question their peculiar behavior earlier.

Good, because they had something important to discuss.

"Taehyun and I were talking earlier, and we predict that he will fight Hueningkai tomorrow," Soobin said.

"I can't believe this is happening; wasn't it just yesterday when the two of them were eleven?" Beomgyu asked.

"I know. Although he didn't say much, he clearly is terrified," Yeonjun sighed.

"Which is probably why he is holding Taehyun close right now; he is scared of tomorrow."

"Now that you say it; you're quite right," the purple haired said.

All three sighed at once.

"Who do you think got tortured and killed?" Beomgyu asked.

"Probably an animal; I mean, who else here is a crossover?"

"Definitely only us," Yeonjun replied.

"How long do we still need to keep the armory hidden from the two? They're old enough to know by now," Beomgyu commented.

"I know, I know. But it's so gruesome to know about; I'm not so sure whether they're ready to hear that—" Soobin began.

"Soobin. They have to, otherwise they'll only continue to refuse to fight," Yeonjun said.

Beomgyu nodded.

"Yeah Hyung. We have to do this, now or never."

"Can we go with never?"

Yeonjun and Beomgyu shook their heads.

"We need to tell them as soon as possible."

Soobin exhaled.

"Alright. We'll tell them tomorrow."

At that moment, loud thunder clapped over the roof and the pouring rain followed just a few seconds later.

"Let's hope no lightning strikes this place, otherwise our cages will electrocute us," Yeonjun worried.

Beomgyu exhaled.

"The fact that we need to worry about that too... why do the humans hate us so much? What did we ever do to them?"

"I agree. Isn't it scientifically proven that humans originated from animals?" Soobin wondered.

"Unfortunately, not everyone thinks like us," Yeonjun sighed.

A splash of water dropped onto Beomgyu's face at that moment and he shook his raven locks.

"You need water for your arms?" he asked Soobin.

The purple haired nodded.

"Kind of."

He exchanged spots with Beomgyu and waited for more rain to come down. Looks like having a leaky roof has its benefits. Soobin was able to rinse off most of the blood stained on his arms. Meanwhile, Yeonjun and Beomgyu started curling around the cage to find a good position to sleep in.

"Come to me Soobin," Yeonjun said.

"Mhm."

Soobin laid down next to Yeonjun, who immediately held him close. Beomgyu just watched them for a while before closing his eyes, sleep finding him in no time.

As night fell over the crashing of thunder, the fiver crossovers laid close to each other, once again hoping that this neverending cycle of torture will one day... end.
