the glorious return of hyunjin

on his way from the bus stop back to the dorm, hyunjin found himself in the middle of a heated inner debate about who between him and minho should apologize. 

on one side was the revelation that the kind bus driver's words had brought about: deep down minho meant well, and it was wrong of hyunjin to react like he had. on the other side was hyunjin's stubbornness that kept insisting that minho was still way too jealous and cold, and rude, and he owed hyunjin an apology for his actions.

eventually, hyunjin settled on the reasonable compromise that they both had to apologize to each other. fine, hyunjin was even ready to apologize first – because he had intentionally pinned the blame for a non-existent car crash on minho, not because he thought that he was guiltier than minho. minho was definitely guiltier. or was he? 

this debate is pointless now anyways, hyunjin decided as he let himself into the messy dorm that was uncharacteristically quiet. everyone was out there searching for him. the priority now was the charge his phone and call... call who first? minho? chan? jyp? the police? he was not sure which option was the least scary one. minho was probably the scariest. would he scold hyunjin? or just say something super mean and cold? 

hyunjin heaved a heavy sigh and kicked his sneakers off. the phone charger was still a priority.

he stormed through the living room, tripping over someone's kicked-about shoes, and barged into his room. his eyes scanned it. charger here, charger there – no charger. he sighed again. he was sure that he had last been charging his phone in his room. although, knowing 3racha's ideal of living together, one of them could be using his phone charger just as they had been using his fifty-dollar shampoo. 

he discarded his bag onto the bed and shut the door to his room.

he was about to let himself into jisung's room, when his peripheral vision caught sight of a large something on one of the coaches in the living room. hyunjin stiffened. now what was that? 

his hand instinctively gripped the door handle. he was always such a chicken about things like that. 

after seconds of contemplation, he slowly let go of the handle and made his way toward the living room. whatever ghost was there could not be more terrifying than what awaited him once he turned on his phone. 

how did i miss it on my way in? hyunjin wondered as he tiptoed into the living room and narrowed his eyes to take a better look at the unmoving form sprawled on the couch. he stopped short.

there, in the middle of his living room, was lee minho. dead asleep. snoring.

hyunjin's jaw dropped to the floor.

lee minho! the same lee fucking minho whom hyunjin had got into all that trouble for, the same lee minho that he had been feeling guilty for upsetting, the same lee minho that was supposed to care for hyunjin, the same that lee minho was sleeping peacefully, knowing full well that hyunjin was somewhere out there. missing. after a car crash. 

hyunjin could not decide whether to laugh, cry, or scream in rage. here was he, guilt-ridden, heartbroken, sad, and here also was minho, resting, not a care in the world. 

hyunjin uttered a disbelieving snort. it was turning out that he was precisely what minho had called him on many occasions: naive and dumb. he was naive and dumb because he had believed that cold, mean lee minho out of all people would care for him. dumbass.

hyunjin clenched his fists as he glared at the sleeping minho from above with his now teary eyes. yes, he was the naive and dumb one. he had let himself be fooled by someone who did not even care if he was dead or injured. but minho was not going to enjoy his beauty sleep. not on hyunjin's watch.

he unclenched his fists and, with all the anger and defiance that he could muster, slapped minho across his torso.
