i felt complete and utter jet lag later that night before the show, but i had to power through it. we were in Liverpool, UK. i could hear the fans chanting the band name.

the three of them stood between the entrance of backstage and the stage, shaking their bodies around. they did that to prepare before going out on stage. i jogged behind cole, resting my arms on his shoulders and giving him a quick kiss on the cheek. he turned slightly to look down at me, smiling. "have fun." i said, and they then went on.

they did their usual ritual while performing. the only thing different was that cole kept staring and giggling at me from time to time. the crowd quickly caught on of course. after "Quarterback" was performed, a yell was heard somewhere in the audience.

"who do you keep gawking at, cole?!"

cole nervous laughed as the venue became loud. dylan and braeden glued their eyes on him, waiting to see if he's going to answer the fan or just ignore it. he looked at me. i could tell he was about to invite me on stage, but due to my fidgeting he decided to not to that.

i don't mind the fans knowing, it's the going out in front of them that makes me anxious. "it's a certain someone." he said into the mic, causing the crowd to go wild. "can i say it?" he whispered, even though it picked up in the microphone anyway. i laughed, nodding in approval. he jolted his body. "y/n lemasters. i am gawking at y/n lemasters, and have been for a long time now." he said, confidence radiating off of him. the crowd erupted in loud screams. a goofy grin appeared on his face. "i love you." his hand quickly covered his mouth as i let out a chuckle.

i don't think he meant to say that into the microphone.

his worries quickly whisked away as "aw's" and cheers filled the venue. "now that's gonna make The Hollywood Fix." braeden joked, causing the place to let out a few laughs.

back at the hotel - yes, there's a hotel room this time - cole and i sat on our shared bed. we sat in a comfortable silence, cole staring at me with the biggest smile on his face. "what?" i asked, starting to blush. "i've never been so in love with somebody in my entire life."
"dare i say that you say that word too much?" i asked, but i was obviously joking.

that word can never get old.

he rolled over on top of me, smothering my face with kisses. "y/n?"
"hm?"
"you are the love of my life." i looked up at him to see a glisten of pure love and passion in his eyes.

for the first time in a long time, i felt happy.

calm.

safe.

i took a breath of relief, one simple thought repeating itself inside of my brain.

everything's gonna be alright.
