Chapter 2

He should have had him killed a year ago.

But no, Silas had to go and make that deal to save his life. Julian would rather be dead then be another omega for the Fern Lake alpha's to use. But it's not like his wants matter. They didn't matter in his previous pack anyways or he would be dead right now. The moment where his life was taken from him despite it being sparred plays through his mind as he waits for Zane to arrive for the lessons.

If that's what you can call it.

Zane has taken a liking in forcing Julian to submit after he put up quite a good fight before his pack was taken from him. He calls them Julian's lessons since it is supposed to teach him who the real boss is. The boss being the alphas, but mostly Zane. If anything the whole thing is just a way for Zane to feel better about having an omega hold his own against him and not back down. Lets be honest, Zane's ego couldn't handle that blow. Such a large blow that a year later and he still insists on showing Julian an omegas place anytime the tiny alpha feels a little threatened.

Zane enters the room and wastes no time as he pulls on the chain that connects the silver collar around his neck to the floor, keeping him in place and burning him with any move he makes. Throughout the last year, Julian has become skilled at masking his pain. He's become determined to hide as Zane gets a satisfaction out of hurting him. That, and, of course, the satisfaction of making Julian submit. He's become quit resistant to submitting even more than he had been before.

The two go about their dance of torture as one inflicts pain and the other resists. This time, it's not long before Zane pushes Julian against the floor and shouts for his guards to take him away. He must not have been to angry. Or perhaps whoever was before him got the brunt of his anger. He walks off towards his bathroom, probably to wash off the blood he had come into the room with and any Julian had bled onto him. When the guards come in they yank him out of the chains and throw a robe at him. He wares pants, but no shirt and the weather has dropped the last few days.

When they guide him outside, Julian is left to take the walk of shame back to the omega housing next door. It's like they planned out the best way to make omegas feel like shit about themselves.

As he walks back to his room, there is a commotion that he passes. An omega girl struggling against the betas trying to escort her to the omega housing. She's new. She's been here for a couple weeks. The two had bonded a little over that time, but Julian still put distance. One day he would get in trouble because of her. He just knows it.

She stops struggling when she sees Julian. She gives him a pitying look as she is dragged through the doors, him following behind. He doesn't drop his head as the two continue to stare at each other.

The betas call for all the omegas in the dorms to make their way downstairs before Julian can make it away to change. He leans against the bannister, squeezing his robe to his body as more omegas make it down the stairs. Most of them are women, but a few are guys. And of those few, most are not adults. All just waiting for their lives to be taken away even more then they are now, knowing what happens to them. At least they have the decency to not be that level of atrocious without punishment. Even in a house full of people who know what he is going through he is alone. Here, you do not speak to each other about such things or you will admit the reality you are in.

They all watch with blank stares as the new girl, still the newest of them all, is pushed forward. There are lacerations on her wrists. She was forced in the dungeon for the last few days. By the marks she struggled against the silver chains. "A reminder of what happens when you don't follow the rules."
