Chapter 3

Julian succumbs to his wolf side, letting the animal instincts take over as he takes off down the hallway. He doesn't let his bad leg slow him down as he is fast on all fours to begin with.

He tumbles down the stairs. Rolls, more like it. But quickly catches himself and is off running again. The adrenaline keeps him going through the pain as he hobbles at a fast pace. When he breaks away from the small bout of fighting within the main alpha housing he is met by absolute chaos of fighting and fleeing outside.

The omega house stands burning next to the main house. There are several different wolves with many different pack scents fighting Fern Lake members. Julian doesn't stick around to find out what is going on. There is a howl that he recognizes. He would know that voice even in wolf form, Charlotte, but this is his chance. He can't waste it.

He takes off to the North of the pack lands. Its the side that boarders a few small packs and a town. Right now, it's just get out of here time. He can find out a way to get in contact with Silas or Caspian later.

As he runs, another wolf flanks his side. It whines at him as it speeds ahead of him to try and cut him off. He simply dodges the she-wolf and pushes himself harder. Theres russeling in the bushes as a few wolves jump out a head. One of them howls. Julian skids to a stop as he is thrown back in time to his late high school days.

Noah.

Someone grabs his neck from behind. He goes to snap at them but there is a pinch. And he slowly melts to the ground. What the hell did they just give him.

And in an instant his mind is blank. All he sees is a distorted blur of people. His hearing is no better. The voices come in and out like an echo of a radio coming in and out.

"I've got him."

"He's. .. Heat. . . No unmated. . ."

He can see a face close to his before he is higher in line with the faces around him. He doesn't know that voice.

"You guys. . . Know him?"

"Yeah. . ."

The rumble of an engine.

The world turns darker as the sun is blocked from his view. He can't really make out any shapes anymore.

"Careful. . . Leg."

"He's so. . . Should never have. . . All my fault. . ."

". . . Safe now."

He slowly sinks into darkness.

Julian's mind brings him back to happier times. His dad and mom sit on a picnic blanket with a feast for a king, in the eyes of Julian. They watch as their small son squeals and runs to his friend at the play ground. The two little omegas collide into an embrace as if they hadn't seen each other in years instead of a few days. They waste no time starting up a game of pretend as they conquer the tower that is the playground.

No one else from school showed up that day.

And then they are in junior high. Julian kicks a ball into a kids face and the other little omega from the birthday, now grown, holds him back as he tries to punch the other kid. Despite the kid holding his bloody nose, Julian isn't done with him. A teacher comes and drags him to the school office by his ear. His friend follows after.

He watches as him and his friend cuddle in bed watching movies. They giggle and talk about anything and everything. They ignore the urn that Julian had placed on his desk, not sure what to do with it since he brought it home earlier that day. But the two omegas ignore it as they watch the cheesy rom-com.
