Pulled In

It started like such a normal day. Terry woke up when his alarm went off. He woke his roommate, Kevin (and once again reminded him to fix the sign on his door.) He even made it to campus with enough time to catch up with Tina in the library before class.

It was all going great until Terry's hour of free time after Physics but before Geography (which he may or may not have been planning to skip anyways.) He grabbed a coffee with Tina and Kevin in the lounge before they all went to the library. Kevin was supposed to be banned for the whole possum fiasco but the librarian was cool and let him in as long as he was with Tina and Terry to babysit.

They sat next to Colleen and handed her a coffee as well. When they were ready to start studying Terry heard someone frustratedly say "What is going on with this damn thing?!" They looked over to see a couple of the professors at one of the computers that appeared to be going haywire.

The one who seemed to be having the most trouble with it was Professor Warren, Terry noticed his good friend and probably the youngest professor here, Hamton, was trying to help him. He went over to see if he could help as well. What he saw on the screen had him speechless for a minute. The computer was completely freaking out, the screen flashed bright lights and the tower's fans were making sounds like they were working overtime.

Terry waved the others over. "Guys you gotta see this."

Hamton looked over his shoulder. "Terry, hey, you ever seen anything like this?" Terry shook his head as the others crowded around. "Me either, it's weird though, for a second there I thought I saw some shapes in the lights. Symbols or hieroglyphs or something."

Terry kept his eyes on the lights to try and make out the symbols, but he didn't recognize any of them. By this point, everyone was watching the light show.

Tina noticed it first. "Is the computer humming?" They all stopped to listen. She was right, the computer was making some odd humming sound, but not from the speakers.

"It's coming straight out of the monitor!" Colleen exclaimed. The sound started to change from a low hum to a higher-pitched piano tune.

"Hey phone, what song is this?" Kevin asked aloud.

"Kevin, it doesn't work like that." Terry explained tiredly. The music was picking up pace and volume.

The librarian looked over, shook her head, and looked back down at her book. "Damn kids."

"Guys what's that?" Hamton noticed something in the center of the lights. They all looked in at the same time. It seemed to draw them in. Hypnotically at first, but then Terry felt a tug on his chest. That tug turned into a harsh yank and all everyone saw was a close up of the bright lights before everything went dark.
