The group came to a rest once they reached the beach. "I think there should be a village further south from here." Goblimon said.
"We've got to rest before we go any farther." Tina said between deep breaths. "We left right after talking to Seraphimon and haven't slept at all besides a short nap back at Mayor Gatomon's hut."
"She's right." Terry added. "We should rest here for a bit and try to sleep if we can. The sun will set soon. As much as I hate the idea that there are three more pairs of us somewhere out here who have had to survive on their own for two days now, we just can't keep pushing ourselves with no sleep."
Goblimon, having rested most recently and being uninjured, volunteered to gather supplies for a makeshift shelter. Within the hour they had a sturdy tent-like shelter that could fit all ten of them. Jen and Goblimon took the first shift as guards.
"So what exactly is this link we share, Gobby? I've been meaning to ask." Jen was brushing his mohawk again.
"Like the others said. Our worlds run parallel to eachother. It's almost like I'm the you of this world and you're the me of the human world. That doesn't fully capture it, but it's the best explanation I've got. We're best buds, Jenny, or at least we'll grow to be best buds." He looked to the others and watched them sleep for a moment.
"I don't think they've had as much time for conversations as we have. It sounds like they hit the ground running when they got here." Jen said. "Still though, Terry and Woolwingmon's bond is already so strong that they reached Champion stage. I hope we can do the same soon. Though I can't imaging you being something other than a mean, green fighting machine." They laughed together and leaned on one another as they shared the rest of their shift.
Once time was up, Jen gently nudged Tina awake. "Hey sleepyhead, time for you and Lalamon to stand guard. Imma get some sleep."
Tina stood and patted Lalamon's head. "Our turn, big guy. Let's grab some food before we find a spot to sit."
Jen perked up at the suggestion. "I'm actually a little hungry myself. Mind if I join you before I hit the hay?"
Tina smiled. "Of course not. I've actually been hoping for a proper chance to talk to you. The four of us and two of the guys we're missing go to the same college, so we already know a lot about eachother. You and the eighth person are strangers to us, so it'd be nice to get to know eachother." She started towards the trees to the west and Lalamon followed.
Jen and Goblimon walked with them. "I appreciate the inclusion. You already know my name's Jen. I'm twenty-three, I'm not in college but I play in a band as lead guitar and I try to be friendly with most people who aren't jerks."
"Kevin must have caught on to the band vibes, he already loves you." Tina teased.
"Yeah, I-I mean uh, he and I have had kind of a flirtationship since we arrived at the junkyard. He's so easygoing but still fun to tease." Jen blushed as she spoke and changed the subject. "So, you into punk?"
Tina giggled. "The vibes and culture for sure, but never really listened to much of it. I'm a bit of a book and tea with R&B kind of person." They picked some fruit off of a nearby tree as their partners gathered nuts and berries.
They sat and ate together, keeping the rest in Tina's bag to give to everyone else when they woke up. "Lady Tina?" Lalamon nudged her shoulder.
"What's up buddy?" Tina responded.
"I can make you some tea if you'd like. It's a special gift us floral Digimon have."
Tina hugged Lalamon in excitement. "I'd love some tea! Something caffeinated if possible."
