Chapter 3

Eveline is suspiciously well-behaved.

Alan (who's being an asshole by the way) is accompanying them as well, both under the guise of parents although Eveline refuses to even be touched (sometimes looked at) by him. They safely get on the Annabelle and begin their journey.

Oblivious to the storm - both literal and figurative - that's about to destroy them and change them forever. Not even Eveline is ready.

Mia gently kisses her head, promising to return soon before going and watching the waves crash against the ship. She can see the storm approaching, but doesn't move still, opting to wait until she's told to go back to her room.

She feels it before she hears the screams.

"EVELINE-"

Chaos develops instantly and Mia runs, feeling sick, and a small feeling that things aren't going to go her way. The ship lurches and Mia hears Alan scream in pain before the horrifying sound that signified his death sounds in her ears. Mia crashes through the ship, picking up a sub-machine gun as she goes along, realizing that everyone is dead.

Eveline, what did you do?

Finally, Mia found the little girl, who was - well - certainly a bringer of death. Mia's glad she sent the last-second voicemail - begging Ethan to forget about her (what? It was easier than explaining what happened to their relationship).

But she kind of wished she'd sent one to Miranda too.

"I didn't like them, mommy." is all she said and Mia realizes with sickening grief that she should've listened to them. Eveline was dangerous and now bonded to Mia.

"Why?"

"I don't want to go to another lab, we're gonna be a family instead." she looks crazed.

"We were already a family." she whispered.

"THEY WERE GOING TO TAKE ME AWAY!" she screamed before going calm again.

"Don't worry mommy, we're almost there, it won't hurt."

"Wha-"

The truth-

Nothing.

Miranda has plans.

Granted, she always has plans, but this is the most important one.

Eva.

(Eveline wasn't Eva, she doesn't know what Eveline is, but she should've put her down sooner.)

But now annexed into the Eva plan, was the Mia plan. Because Miranda has terrible separation anxiety and she already regrets how she let Mia leave without saying it back - of course, she loves her, does she think Miranda would eat that horrific toaster snack if she didn't - and now she's going to be gone for weeks.

At any point, she could find someone else to cheat on Ethan with. God forbid it was Alan.

(She doubted it, Mia made a point to tell Alan she hated him more than she hated people telling her to smile which was saying something.)

But anyways - the Mia plan.

In simplest terms - keep Mia forever.

In slight simple terms - infect Mia, keep her forever.

That silly human had caught Miranda, it irritated her to no end, but the thought of Mia dying (leaving her) made her inconsolably upset. So when Mia returned, without that mistake of an experiment following her like a lost lamb, she would tell her.
