Chapter 6 - kiss

~Els POV~

I was woken up by Jonathan's car rolling out of the parking and onto the road and rolled out of bed. I checked the time. 7:57 a.m. shit. I had to meet max at 8:05. I was going to be late. I jumped up and threw on some jeans and a flannel and rushed into the kitchen.
"Hey hunny I made you some breakfast," Joyce said when I ran out of my room.
"Thanks mum but I really have to go I'm meeting Max at school at 8:05 and school starts at 8:15 I really have to go," I grabbed an eggo from the table and stuffed it in my mouth, grabbed my bag and jumped on my bike. It was already 8:03 and I was still 5 minutes away from school. I peddled as fast as I could and got there 1 minute late.

Max stood at the bike rack waiting for me to arrive. Her red hair flew behind her and she was wearing a pair of long baggy shorts and a baggy top. I put my bike in the rack and pulled her into a tight hug. I didn't know why but she stood there frozen. God I was such an idiot why would I hug her.
"Max are you ok. I'm so sorry about last night," I spoke to her but she didn't answer. I saw some plasters stuck all over her arm. What happened? Did her step dad do that. I grabbed her wrist and turned it over, looking at the plasters."hello? Max what happened," she pulled her arm away and laughed. But not a happy laugh. A nervous laugh.
"Nothing happened I just tripped," she laughed it off but I know something happened.

The rest of the party walked up to us at the bike racks and we all walked the rest of the way together. Mike grabbed my arm and stopped walking pulling me behind whilst telling the others to keep on going.
"What's wrong," I asked.
"El you know I love you right?" He asked. I had no idea about what was happening.
"Yeh?"
"Then why won't you tell me what's wrong,"
"Nothings wrong I've just been stressing about school." He grabbed my body and pulled me in for a kiss but I pushed his body away him. I couldn't believe he was trying to kiss me.
"Mike not here," I looked around.
"Ok so come back to mine after school. My parents left this morning for a trip," he smiled but I didn't know what to say.
"Umm fine I'll call my parents when I'm at yours." I ran to get closer to max and tried to talk to her again. She smiled But it was awkward.

~Max's POV~

In my lessons I sat next to El. I was still not used to her being nice. I was listening to the teacher when El passed me a note.

To max
I'm so sorry about last night and this morning, Mike showed up and I didn't know what to do. You don't have to tell me what happened yesterday but I want you to know I'm here for you whenever you want to talk.

I read the note and A smile formed on my face. I grabbed a pen from my pencil case and started writing on the other side of the note.

Hi el.
I promise I'm ok and nothing happened this morning seriously and last night my stepdad just got mad about me wearing Lucas' shirt so I promise nothing really bad happened.

I looked at my wrist. Would sweet innocent El know that I was lying and something really bad did happened.

He just lost his temper. It happens quite often. And if your free after school today do you think we could hang out?<3

Max :D

I passed the note to El and watched as she read it. She picked up her pencil and scribbled something on the paper and passed it back.

I would love to hang out<3 meet you at the bike racks after school.

I smiled and looked over at her. All I thought about for the rest of the lesson was the beautiful brunette sitting next to me.

~Els POV~

For the rest of the lesson I planned things we could do in the afternoon. The rest of the day passed really quickly. Soon it was lunch. I took my food and placed my tray next to maxes. She looked at me while I was sitting down and smiled and then continued talking. She was explaining a program she saw on her tv and I was so invested in her story. Admiring each word she said so carefully and noticing the little sparks in her eyes when she was exited.

Max had finished talking and so I grabbed my cutlery and stuffed my food down. When lunch was over me and max ran to our next lesson. We got seats at the back and put everything out. We were learning about particles and the states of matter. I didn't understand so during the lesson max whispered the answers on my ear as well as a few unfunny dad jokes but I couldn't help but laugh when I heard them. The lesson finished and me and max ran out of school and to starcourt. We watched a film and ate food and started walking back to my house. We were laughing all the way there and when we got close I saw Mike.

"What the fuck El I thought we were going to hand out," he walked over to us with red eyes. I looked at max.
"I'm so sorry I totally forgot and me and max were hanging out," I replied. I was genuinely sorry but he just walked away. I looked at max and she nodded.
"I'll go," she said.
"I'm sorry I just don't want him to be mad,"
"Don't be sorry seriously," she smiled. I pulled her into a hug and ran to see Mike.
"Mike!" I shouted.
"Fuck of El I don't want to talk to you,"
I pulled him by his wrist.
"I'm so so so sorry, max was sad and I told her we could hang I completely forgot we had plans but we still have time it's only 5," I said but he still looked pissed. I went to kiss him but he pushed me away.
"All you do now is hang out with max. Like common IM your boyfriend. Not her. So stop acting like it. It's like your in love with her," he paused I couldn't believe him. "That's it isn't it. Your In love with her. Your just a little gay fag who's disgusting. But i know you wouldn't cheat on me I was the only person who loved you. But if your going to treat me like shit I don't want to be with you any more. So fuck of would you. And don't try to talk to me at school," he walked away. I stood still, not daring to move. The clouds got grey and it started to rain. I couldn't care that I was getting wet. I didn't even notice. I just ran. Tears were pouring down my face as I ran the direction max left. I just ran.

~Max's POV~

I sat on my bed trying to read a Comic but kept getting distracted by thought of mike and El. Was El ok? Suddenly I heard the door bell ring. I rolled out of bed and opened the door. El. She stood there soaking water dripping of her face. She looked so sad. Her eyes were red and she looked out of breath.
"El! What are you doing here?" I pulled her inside and led her to my bedroom. My stepdad and mum weren't here so it was just me.
"When you left mike started shouting at me and calling me a... a,"
"What what was he calling you?"
"A gay fag," I stood there. What. The. Fuck. Why would Mike say that.
"El I'm so sorry you don't deserve that he doesn't know what he's saying. I'm so sorry. Omg I'm going to kill him. I'm so sorry he's a dick really a dick." Tears rolled down her face and I stroked her silky hair as she layed her head in my lap. She looked up at me with tears filling her eyes.
'Max?' She asked
'Yeh,'
'When did you get such pretty eyes?' She said. I looked at her. My cheeks turned red and i tried to answer but I couldn't even speak. She got up and looked at me. Her eyes clear and the tears on her face drying.
'Thank you I mean you have beautiful eyes and really pretty hair and mine are not that pretty but like thank you it means a lot to me.' I laughed but she leaned in closer.
'Max,' she whispered and ran her hands through my hair pulling my face towards hers. I knew I was turning the same shade as my red hair but I didn't care, I put my hand on her cheek and leaned towards her.She giggled and pressed her lips on mine. I could feel butterfly's forming in my stomach but we stayed like that for a long time. My hand on her cheek and hers in my hair, our lips touching and us practically sitting on each other. Our free hands exploring each other's body's like we had never touched anyone before. It was the best moment of my life. I never wanted it to end. But soon she was gone again.
