-"Michael, how come I'm the only one who sees you?"
"I don't know, babe."
-"Great. You're mother thinks I'm crazy and wants me to see a freaking therapist and we can't figure out how on earth I can see you, even tho you're dead."
"Maybe we can just enjoy the fact that we can still live even if I'm not really there..." the ghost says as he wraps his arms around Celeste's waist, before she quickly gets out of his grip.
-"No Michael! I can't live like this. As much as I miss you and that it aches my heart that you're not here anymore, this isn't healthy. I need to plan a funeral, continue working, I need to let go."
"Look, if you want me to leave, I'll leave. I came here because I missed you."
-"You're dead for god's sake! You're not alive, your heart stopped beating and you left my world. I loved you but I need to let go."
"Loved? You don't love me anymore?"
-"YOU'RE DEAD MICHAEL. DEAD. I CAN'T LOVE YOU ANYMORE IF YOU'RE DEAD!"
"Why are you being like this? This is the universe giving us a chance to continue with our lives and you're ruining it!"
-"What life Michael? You don't have a life anymore. When are you going to understand that this isn't a chance, this is a curse. You shouldn't be here and I should be in my bed, crying until my body runs out of tears. I should go to a therapist like your mom said and then plan your funeral. Then I'll get back to work, while everybody tells me how sorry they are for my loss. Then I'm gonna move on and let go and possibly meet a new person, with whom I'll fall in love with."
"You know I can't stand the thought of you falling in love with another."
-"Well that doesn't matter anymore, does it?"
"I guess it doesn't."
Celeste grabbed her purse and keys, holding back tears in her sad eyes.
"Where are you going?"
-"I'm going to get answers."
She leaves out the front door and gets in her car. She drives for a few minutes, until she arrives at the church of the neighbourhood. She opens the tall door that leads to a spacious and dark room, filled with benches, all facing the end of the church. Father Benjamin glared at Celeste before the widow spoke up.
-"I need to advice, Father."
They both went to a room in the back of the church, where stayed a luxurious office. Celeste sat down at a chair facing the wooden desk, as Father Benjamin sat down at a desk chair, facing Celeste.
-"So, what brings you here..."
-"Celeste. My name's Celeste."
-"Well Celeste, what brings you here?"
-"So, my husband passed away yesterday, and this morning when I woke up, I saw him. He could talk and eat. He could touch me and I could touch him. Yet, I have no idea why and how."
-"First, my dearest condolences for your loss, it must be very hard. Second, it is a pretty common thing that you're experiencing. A lot of people I know arrive here, panicked, thinking that they're posessed. What you're experiencing is your brain adapting to the death of your husband."
-"Oh, I'm pleased to here that, I thought I was going cra..."
-"However..."
-"What?"
-"There could be a chance that your husband is haunting you."
-"Haunting? Like in movies?"
-"It is similar to movies but there are some differences. For example, when people haunt you, especially loved ones, it's because they don't wanna let go and they don't want you to let go. So they'll appear and follow you. They'll bring everything back to them, so that you're never able to let them go. It's rare, but I've seen it happen before."
-"And how do you get rid of them?"
Before the Father could answer, his phone rang, disrupting his thinking.
-"I'm sorry I have to take this, we can continue at another time."
-"Okay, thank you."
Celeste left the room as the Father started speaking on the phone. As she walked through the empty, huge room, her heels hitting the floor resonated in the whole room. She needed to know how to get rid of Michael, as much as it hurt to think about it. It wasn't healthy, nor was it a sign of the universe, as her husband claimed. It was a curse. A poisonous gift.
