Few days back

As Grace looked on all her four sides, she silently made her way out of the room once she was sure noone was around. The darkness in the hall didn't help one bit. She couldn't see anything, so decided to used her hands to help her feel things around. Suddenly she stumbled upon something like a vase and quickly caught it before it shattered right on the ground. Even a small sound could create a massive echo since it was silent, pin drop silent. She made her way down the stairs and ofcourse it was hard, harder than she ever thought it'd be but she was determined.

As soon as the stairs were done, she let out a deep sigh of relief but quickly shut her mouth as she saw something move, someone move??

She slowly made her way on her tippy toes, hands were still covering her mouth, not letting out a single breath. She stood frozen right behind the curtains and traced the way as the person walked away, slowly far away from her sight. She thought of letting out a relief sigh again but her mind said nevermind. Now her eyes began to slightly adjust to the darkness and she could see, although not clearly but better. She didn't want to waste another minute. She ran quickly shutting the door behind her.

Escaping from home is indeed a battle when you have a curfew after 9 pm. But what else can Grace do? She was suddenly craving for those blueberry ice cream sold at the street trolleys. And their taste was soo delicious especially after 11. Maybe it's the cold climate or there's indeed some magic, blueberry magic! All thanks to Simcha that she had now developed this hard sorry impossible to break habit! She took out her phone only to call Simcha.

Hey sim

Hey Bae
He answered in a sleepy tone.
Grace however found his husky deep voice absolutely hot as her cheeks blushed. She cleared her throat, making her come back to her senses.

Yooooo! Sleepy head get up!
Aren't those lovely blueberries calling you too?
Come on, let's go?

It's literally 9:40, and my ears are already banging on your scream, so I'm not going anywhere and neither are you. Go sleep love!

But I'm already half way through the stree-

Kay, will be there in 5.
Don't move!

Grace always knew this trick worked on Simcha, he'd never leave her alone and that too it was night! So Grace thought why not? Make use of it. Poor sim! Poor sleep!
After tasting a few tbh a lot of Ice cream, Grace was now full and not to mention Simcha with a bloated stomach. They took a small walk along the river as Simcha walked her home, their shadows were glittery due to the golden street lights!
Few minutes into their walk, it started drizzling as the weather turned cold and breezy. Grace closed her eyes and felt the fresh fragrance of earth. That moment, it was all so precious,
The glossy River,
Lights on empty Street,
Night sky,
Light rain
And
Ofcourse,
Him.

The entire town was fast asleep except for sim and Grace. There was indeed something so magical she felt that she couldn't explain. Soon the slight drizzling became a heavy rain. Her blissful experience was cut off when she felt sim dragging her under a shade. Escaping the rain was soo not her thing. She loved it and what's the use she was already drenched. Simcha was now faking his angry pout and she couldn't help but burst out laughing.

Don't you dare laugh at me! Youuu
You could've caught cold, even worse a high fever! Don't tell me you're planning on bunking school tomorrow.
Sim spoke with hands on his waist, this guy is dramatic af

Just like her

Grace eyes teared up. This was not, what he expected. Sim was confused by the sudden change from all goofy to emotional.

My mom,
She used to say the exact same words, whenever I played in rain and refused to come in.
But it's all gone.

She vanished into one of these stars, must be the brightest one. Death, isn't it a part of life but why does it become so hard to accept, when you face it.
It seems just like yesterday, she was there, hugging me, just fine but now she's gone. I still can't believe she passed away. Leaving me all alone.

You're not alone,
I'm there G
and I will be there.
As everything you'll ever need.
A friend, a mom, a well wisher.
(Simcha said wiping off her tears as he took her hand on his. He held them tight.)

So I'll call you
...my mama?
Grace spoke easing the tension between them, igniting a small laughter.

Oh yes! My dear baby.
Simcha played along, pulling her into a tight hug. She didn't expect this. Her cheeks turned red and eyes widened. She was startled by his sudden action but soon gave in. It was all she needed. Words of affirmation and having someone to call your own.

Soon they reached grace's home as Simcha bid a bye,

So I'll get going,
Mom must be alone at home.

Before waving her hand, something suddenly striked for Grace as she spoke,

Sim, coming to think of it,
I've never seen your mom,
Neither in PTAs nor in any other activities. It's always our
teacher who signed your report cards and stuff.
Isn't it?

Uh-huh,
too eager to meet your mother in law, I guess?
Simcha spoke with a smirk which didn't go unnoticed by Grace.

Huh?
She pretended as if she didn't hear it.

Oh Nothing! Nothing!
Don't worry, I'll introduce you to her one day and ofcourse she'll like you!

I know, I'm everyone's fav!
They chuckled and Grace went back home as Simcha's shadow faded.
______________
Back to the present day

She looked at her hand, which Simcha held tight in his, that day, promising her. She remembered how she had to remove her hands from his as he fell from the terrace. It broke her heart to a million pieces. She cried her heart out. She didn't know whether it was right or wrong.
But all she knew was,

Violet doesn't deserve this!
