"St. Jonas Hr secondary school heartily welcomes each and every one present here for the 15th Inter-house swimming competition."
The staffs were busy announcing in the microphones, players were getting ready, incharges were busy jotting down names and classes and suddenly a loud noise overpowered the announcements. It was from the opposite directions, the crowds were screaming and gathering around a person. Just then Grace heard something that caught her attention.
The crowds were chanting,'J! J! J!'
She quickly turned, just to see a bunch of crowd. She couldn't clearly see who it was. He had swimming pants on and a hoodie on top which covered his face. Grace went near him for a closer look but she kept getting jammed in the crowd. She reached out to the hoodie and moved it from his face and it was,
S.....Simcha?
Those were the last words she uttered before fainting and just when she was about to hit the ground Simcha wrapped her safely in his arms.
____
When she opened her eyes, she found herself in the nurse's office. She couldn't believe what she saw. The person she loved the most was the one she hated the most. He was J all along, he killed Violet. How could he? Was it all just an act? She needs to be determined no matter what, but was she? Is she lost in the way to her destination? They always say,"Everything is fair in love and war"
But now,
"Is it love? or war?"
She had no answers. But When she remembered Violet, her death, the unjustice. She twisted her hands in fuming anger. It felt like she had something on her hands. A paper? She opened it to find a note. A letter.
"This is what happens to people who skip breakfast.
You fainted Grace, in my arms though.
Eat something and meet me in the terrace.
I'll be waiting for you, my love.
Remember: eat something.
- Simcha"Her lips formed a faded smile when she read the words 'my love' but as soon as she realized it, she crushed it.
____Hey, you ok now?
Grace?Yes..J
Oh that!
Didn't mean to hide it from you, it's just that-You thought it's fun to fool me, right?
So you are J.Yes J.
Whyy J?
(The anger and disappointment were evident in her voice.)Why not? It's just my name like y'all have one.
So simcha?
(She asked in a shaking voice)
It's true that my name is Simcha. It's from a Hebrew origin and it means joy. Everyone initially were like,
"Isn't your name weird, bruh?" And then I had to explain the meaning so, eventually everyone just started calling me 'J' in short. But,
(he noticed that she was crying.)
You... you betrayed me.
I...I..No this can't be true. I love you Simcha.
I loved you but didn't realize it but never in my dreams,
I would have thought of confessing this way.
For once, just for once tell me you are not J. You aren't the one I'm searching for. Tell me you didn't kill Violet, tell me.
Tell me you are the one who used to tease and make me laugh like crazy.
Tell me that you are that goofy little boy who used to make my heart flutter,
Cheeks blush,
Eyes shine and
Lips smile.
Tell me
Was it all just an act?(She screamed her heart out. The pain was unbearable. He used her. Loving him was her only mistake and she didn't wanna do it again. It was her first love. First time she wanted to fight the world for him, she wanted give the moon to him, she wanted to give him all the happiness and take the pain in return. But his love was fake. It was just an act?)
Simcha on the other side looked confused at Grace's words. He couldn't understand what was going on. One more step Grace took forward and Simcha was at the edge of the terrace. He held her hands for support and she said,
"I'm just someone who loves someone she can't have."
