I got back in the car and my parents asked me why I had to go back. I just ignored them and stared out the window with a smile on my face. My parents just rolled their eyes and gave up. I unrolled the little piece of paper in my hands to see 10 numbers scribbled down. "Yes!" I whisper to my self.

I looked out the window as we passed a sign that read:

NEW MEXICO IN 69 MILES

When we were about 15 kilometers up the road, we stopped at a gas station. We pulled in and me, my mom, and my brother went to use the pot while my dad poured flammable gas into our vehicle. My mom let Jeremie and I buy some snacks for the road. Yummy! My brother bought beef jerky and a chocolate bar. I bought some dry meal worms.

When we finally made it to our hotel in New Mexico, my mom said right away, "Ahhh, this hotel looks much nicer. Don't you think Jerry?" "Yes dear." My dad replied.

When we went into the hotel the lobby was like a palace. It was beautiful! I almost cried because Heroine couldn't see it. We made our way to the front desk and checked in.

"What's your name?" The front desk lady asked nicely. "Jerry McCharles." My dad answered. The lady clicked the mouse repeatedly and typed in some things on the keyboard. "Ummm... I'm sorry there is no Jerry McCharles on here." She said eventually. "What?!" My dad got really concerned. "Try Jona McCharles." My dad added. The lady did some more clicking and typing. "No Jona McCharles either. Sorry." The lady said. The lady eventually had to type in Jeremie's name as well as mine but nothing worked.

I turned to my mom to see how she was taking this. Her teeth were clenched together and I could see a little bit of white foam squeezing out of the sides of her mouth. Oh boy, I thought.
