I tried to warn you.

I tried to warn you that these words that you were waiting for, like a child impatiently hoping for the return of the snow on December 25th, wereWords you should never have heard. You weren't ready for their magnitude, their impact, their responsibility. You can't blame me for trying to change your mind. I tried, and unfortunately it wasn't enough. Your shyness or my selfishness couldn't explain it. That's how it is.

We must nevertheless be fully aware of the human hell we put each other through. We must have been devoid of all our senses not to have noticed this setting worthy of a bad movie. Neither you nor I smelled the sour smell burning our noses or tasted the bitterness that remained on our tongues. The same goes for the touch of the thorns in our hands and the tears in our eyes. We could have heard the cracking sounds playing in symphony behind us. One of us must have been at least deaf and the other blind to have missed all the warning signs of this accident. Yes, an accident. You are well aware that it would have changed lives.

Yours.

Mine.

Hers.

Yet, the reward was all the sweeter for it, wasn't it ? Well, perhaps "sweet" wasn't quite the right word. That heat that enveloped us whenever we drew near each other always ended up burning us. Consuming us. Killing us. A bit like a simple candle that seemed to want to illuminate a dark room when its wick was actually the tip of a dynamite bouquet.

But that's what you wanted, wasn't it ? You wanted us to play the antagonist in each other's stories, for me to be the cause of all your suffering and you the cause of mine until we found no other way out than each other.

Anyway, why am I talking about you when the same things apply to me ? I could have changed the outcome, the end of it all, because I knew. I understood. And yet, I stayed. That was my only mistake: staying.

I think we're done with this act now. I was never a good actor anyway.

Besides, you know, it hasn't snowed on December 25th for six years now.

I tried to warn you.

Dear Reader,

First of all, thank you for coming here !

"Happy Trauma" takes place in an alternate universe, so any knowledge you might have from the anime will be irrelevant. While I've tried my best to stay true to their diverse personalities, the characters in the Haikyuu!! manga belong to Haruichi Furudate. The rest of this story is a pure product of my imagination that I wanted to share with you :)
Don't expect to read about smut in the lines that follow. My goal is to break away from the usual tropes while still having readers interested in what happens next. I'm well aware that this might be difficult because some clichés are far more appealing than others. However, I find that this type of story has become far too repetitive and predictable to offer any real surprises. That's why I want to try something different. In this story, you'll find: slow burn, drama, romance, and everyday life.

This first chapter might make some of you uncomfortable, but it's necessary for the rest of the story. Nothing serious, I assure you.

Just so you know, ENGLISH is NOT my FIRST language so you should expect so mistakes there and there. Also I don't know any beta reader so you guys are the first to see all of this :) I will be happy to edit any mistakes that catches your eye. Please be kind tho, there is a human being just like you on the other side of the screen !

Well, see you (maybe) on the other side now. Again, thank you for giving me a chance <3

Hoping I've done my job as an author well... Buckle up, we're going on a journey!

~Lycoris~
