CHAPTER 11:
I am currently watching a horror movie, the one where this little girl's doll comes to life and tries to kill her. It's kind of predictable, but I'm scared anyways. I absolutely despise horror movies, but Harper told me to watch this one because it apparently has "a super legit plot". Well, that's definitely so not true.
The scene I'm watching consists of the little girl being home alone and the door bell ringing. And guess who is behind the door: Right, the pizza man. Nah, just kidding, it's the doll, but I think you figured that one out already.
This time, my door bell rings. I pause the movie at the most unfortunate frame. The little girl is starting to scream so it looks like her whole facial expression is completely deranged. It looks funny and I have to laugh. When I turn around to answer the door, I feel shivers running down my spine though. I turn on the light and grab my baseball bat, better safe than sorry you know. Once I open the door, I see a very tall figure standing in front of it. He has his back turned to me but quickly turns around. I let out a small scream.
"Oh hey, Ava!" Luke exclaims.
"Oh my god, Luke you scared me!" I whine. "What are you doing here?"
"Are you busy at the moment?" He asks and glances behind me to see if anyone else is accompanying me. "Um... Where's that baseball bat for by the way?"
I quickly set it down next to the wardrobe. "I was just scared, so I took it just in case. See, I'm watching a horror movie."
"Alone?"
"Alone." I say. "But you can join me if you want."
He scratches the back of his head. Gosh he looks hot doing that. "Actually, I was picking you up for our surprise date."
"Oh well it sure is a surprise." There is an awkward silence for a moment but then I notice Luke looking me up and down. "What are you looking at?" I chuckle, but soon it downs on me that I'm still wearing my hello kitty sweatpants and my oversized pug sweater. "Oh. Um, I'll be right back. Just wait here, okay?"
"Sure." He chuckles.
I quickly walk upstairs and have a little mental breakdown. He has seen me in my weakest moment, scared with a baseball bat in my hands and dressed in hello kitty and pug sweats. And that while he's obviously trying to get into my hello kitty pants. Great. I'm not even sure if I want to go on a date with him, remembering what Harper said. But nevertheless I pull this little black dress I got for my birthday last year out of my dresser and quickly put it on along with some minor makeup. No time for eyeliner today, but I'm lucky to have some leftovers from yesterday. I pack 20 bucks into my purse, just in case I need a taxi to drive me home because taxis these days are hella expensive. I quickly check everything one last time and then leave my room.
When I come running downstairs, I see my mom talking to Luke. Oh my god please don't tell him anything awkward, please don't. "Heyyy" I awkwardly say. "Mom, this is Luke, Luke, this is mom. He's taking me out on a surprise date."
"I already know hun, just go have fun but be home by 2am, alright?"
"Yeah I will, love you mom, bye."
"Byyee" She winks, imitating my awkward tone when I came stumbling down the stairs.
I groan, quickly shoving Luke and me out of the house, wanting to get out of this horridly awkward situation.
"She's nice." Luke says once I closed the door behind us.
"Please don't say she told you any stories!" I cry.
"Okay, she didn't." Luke looks at me with a straight face but I can tell he's trying hard not to laugh. "But only because you told me not to say she did."
