After their death, Alise found themselves floating in a strange void, they looked around, wondering what that place was, maybe some sort of midway between life and death? They felt somewhat relieved that something after death actually existed, they'd always found the possibility of dying and never being able to be conscious ever again quite dreadful. Eventually, they noticed a strange light, slowly inching closer. It looked warm and inviting; Alise felt drawn to it, maybe it was a gateway for Heaven or something- or at least a place with other souls, it WAS getting kind of lonely to float in complete darkness all by themselves... so without hesitating much they went towards the light, ready to finally let go of the mortal realm and wondering what was beyond it.

What they found out was nothing like what they'd expected, quite the opposite...

"Software update complete"

They felt their heart sink, those words, those blaring alarms in the background... they hadn't heard them in ages and they'd hoped they would've never heard them ever again. They recognized that place... the Cryo-pod... "No... no no no why- why here?! I- I did everything right! I-I saved everyone! Well- not EVERYONE but I-I did my best! Why am I back here?!" they shouted, punching the insides of the pod. Were they stuck in some sort of purgatory? All because they couldn't save a couple of lives?

Alise was forcibly shot out of the Cryo-pod and onto the cold metal floor, in a way that was way too familiar to them, they were still in a daze and riddled with questions, mainly how that was even possible, and how they could stop this nightmare... they slowly got up, breathing heavily, they had to get out of there somehow, but the light that had brought them back was nowhere to be seen... were they supposed to avert the crisis once more? And where was Mark for that matter? Nothing made sense anymore!

"I'm so fucking... tired" they mumbled, grabbing a fire extinguisher from the wall and staring at it. No fire was breaking out for now, but that's not why they'd taken it... "I can't do this, not again..." the Captain took a deep breath and chucked it at full force against the window, shattering it and getting flung into space, they thought maybe if they did something so out of the ordinary, things would've been different, however, as soon as their body had traveled far away enough from the Invincible II and they'd lost consciousness, they found themselves living through yet a similar event from their past. A twisting blue and white corridor with a light at the end of it, and as if nothing had happened, they found themselves back into that cursed Cryo-pod.
Alise stumbled out of it, before it could shoot them out, "What the hell's going on...? It's like... it's like I'm not ever allowed to leave... but- that corridor... the wormhole... what does it have to do with anything?"
Then something clicked in their mind, like a missing puzzle piece "The wormhole- I-I was awake back then- is that why..."

"Captain... does this feel familiar to you?"

They froze hearing that voice, Mark... he was safe in this timeline or whatever this was meant to be! Maybe... maybe there was hope. His death was one of the things that had weighed on Alise's conscience for way too long, if this really was because of the wormhole, then maybe they could've fixed things and gotten a perfect ending, one where everyone was saved-

But if they wanted to do so, first they had to repair the ship. "There's no time for this, Mark! We're in a crisis-" they said, grabbing the fire extinguisher and tossing it at him "A fire will break out soon-"

"What?! Hey- Captain, where are you going?!"

Fire promptly broke out on the bridge, just like they said, but they knew Mark could handle things by himself, they had another thing to worry about.

"Life support will fail next!" the shouted, barging into the life support room and opening the backup valves just as the computer announced the systems were failing.
