In just a few seconds, Alise was back to the Invincible II and- Mark was there too!

"Captain!" he called out, running up to them "Captain, I'm so glad you're back!"

"Mark! How did you... get back here?" they asked, happy to see the head engineer again, but also surprised.

"You're not gonna believe this- when I managed to unlock that door you had walked through, it led me back here! But you were nowhere to be found and I was starting to worry but- you're here now! And I'm here too so- let's end this"

"Yes... let's do that-" the Captain said, nodding.

Mark must've noticed something was different with the Captain, so before they could head to the warp core, he stopped them "Are you... feeling better, Captain?"

"Yes, Mark- let's just say that... I talked to someone who reminded me of what I'm made of... I'll get to the bottom of this if it's the last thing I do!" Alise said, grinning.

"That's good to hear..." he said as they finally reached the door to the warp core and opened it "You know how to use that thing, don't you?" he asked, pointing at the portable wormhole generator.

"Yes I-"

"Unfortunately, they do, don't you, Captain?" a way too familiar voice spoke up, then a shot was fired at Mark's chest. He recoiled, falling to the ground.

"No! Mark!!" Alise shouted kneeling down to check on their friend. "How DARE you?!" they glared at the Lady, gritting their teeth.

"This is my last chance... this is THE last chance to save the universe... so I'm begging you, give me the crystal."

"I won't be giving anything to you, you trigger-happy Lady! You keep saying you want to save the universe, but so far you've done nothing but hinder that! You've kept showing up at the worst possible times, you've slowed us down... the reason why my crew died at least twice was because you kept holding us at gun point instead of working with us as a team!!" Alise shouted, slowly getting up and walking towards the Lady, knowing fully well they wouldn't kill them because they needed their crystal.

"What?! No no no that's not my fault! How many people have died because of your carelessness? And how many universes have you destroyed?!" they talked back, raising their gun and stepping forward as well, forcing Alise to take some steps back. "The multiverse is littered with the corpses of your failures!"

"W-well... we're not trying to hurt anybody..." Mark muttered, still in pain from his gunshot wound "We- we just want to save our people... the Captain wouldn't let those things happen, right? You'd never do it, right Captain?"

Alise shook their head "Listen, lady... I want to stop this just as much as you do... if we work together-"

"No, YOU listen to me... I'm done being nice- give me the crystal..."

Alise flinched. That voice... the crystal on their palm began glowing "What have you done?!" they shouted, trying to mess around with the wormhole generator so it'd stop glowing.

"No- no no no what are YOU doing?! Stop it stop it!" they began pressing their generator frantically as well, trying to fix things, but it was futile, there was an explosion, then they disappeared, and Alise was knocked backwards into the wormhole.

"MAAAAARK!!" they shouted, holding their hand out in vain. He couldn't reach them... now what?

Before they could think of anything however, they found themselves in the warp core room, in which dimension or at which point in time, they did not know, but they were there! They did it! Although... without Mark there, it felt rather bittersweet...
