Francis is waiting for his parents to visit him at his office. His father said that he had something important to discuss personally. His parents came together with Mr. Miller, his wife and one simple girl with hands covered with paint. His father introduced his companions to his son. "Francis, this is Kristina, Mr. and Mrs. Miller's only daughter," Mr. Peterson said. Francis just smiled, but he noticed that the girl was timid. He invited them to sit down.
"Francis, we came here to discuss your engagement with Kristina," Mr. Peterson said, leaving Francis in shock. "You can't do this, dad," Francis exclaimed. He looked at Kristina, but her head was down and kept on biting her thumbnail. "Dad, I was about to ask Gina's hand for marriage, I am not expecting this," Francis said. "Drop your plans on marrying that girl, I never liked her at all," Mrs. Peterson commented, looking at Francis with an annoyed look. "You don't have any say about this, huh, Kristina? I bet you also liked this arrangement," with an angry tone, Francis scared Kristina. "Please, excuse me," Kristina announced.
"Son, that is not how you should treat a lady," Mrs. Peterson reprimanded. "My daughter knows nothing about this discussion, she is shocked as much as you are," Mr. Miller spoke. "Look, young Mr. Peterson, what this marriage brings is not only about the two of you but this includes the future of both companies," Mr. Miller continued. "Francis, why don't you get some fresh air to calm yourself for a moment," Mrs. Miller said with a calm voice.
Francis agreed. He immediately walked out of the room, he found himself in a landscape area of Peterson's company. Francis got annoyed when he saw Kristina sitting on the bench biting her thumbnails. "What the hell is wrong with you? You are supposed to oppose this arrangement, Kristina," Francis said. "How could I do that, Sir? I don't do negotiations, I'm no businessman, and definitely can't oppose what my parents want me to do," Kristina said. 'Her voice felt like a humming lullaby', he said to himself. In realization, he brushed off the thoughts he had about Kristina.
"What do you mean? You are not free about anything?" Francis asked. She scoffed when she heard his question, "That is the most insane thing I ever heard today," Kristina said. Kristina's smile melted Francis' annoyance towards her. "Sir Francis, I can do everything I want, but when my parents decide something, that is the road for me to follow," Kristina said and laughed at his idea. Francis smiled and looked at Kristina, but Kristina looked at her as if something was wrong. "I remember you, you were that scrawny nerd before, at college," Kristina commented. "You really changed, if I didn't noticed your eye color I wouldn't remember you at all," she continued.
"I can't believe you know me from before," Francis commented. "I looked into your eyes when I saved you from that bully before, and your eyes are the most beautiful thing I can't forget," Kristina said while looking into his eyes deeply. Francis cleared his throat to distract both of them from the intimate moment they got into. "You know, I don't want this marriage either. I am on the downside of this engagement, and you, sir, on the other hand, have the upside." "What do you mean?" "This marriage is the only way your company finally had the expansion which was planned 5 years ago. However, I just became a trophy wife without anything but the marriage I did not want," she explained.
"We have no choice but to go with the flow," Francis sighed. "I agree on marrying you. On one condition, do not mess with my relationship with my girlfriend, Gina." "I have a condition as well, sir, all I need is you respect me as a woman, as a wife, and that includes showing up at a business or charity gala together as a husband and wife," Kristina said. Francis just offered his hand for a deal, both of them shook their hands as they agreed to their terms.
Both of them entered Francis' office. They immediately agreed to the engagement their parents planned for them. "This calls for a celebration!" Mr. Miller announced. "The wedding will be intimate, only known friends and close family will be attending," Mrs. Miller said. Francis and Kristina are faking their smiles not to burst their parents' bubble.
Mrs. Peterson and Mrs. Miller is busy assisting Francis and Kristina with their wedding. The night before the wedding, Francis and his friends were having a party on a rented yacht. "So tell me about this fiance of yours," Tanner said. "Actually you know her from college, the one who saved me from the bully that almost killed me," Francis replied. "What the hell, you are talking about Kristina Miller?" Cray asked. "Yes, she is Kristina, the heroine who saved me." "The one with paints in her hand?" Tanner asked. "What will you do after the wedding? How about Gina?" Cray asked. "Lucky for me, Kristina and I made a deal that she will let me continue my relationship with Gina," Francis explained. "Well, cheers to that," Tanner cheered.
Kristina woke up early because the hair and make-up artist came early. Her hands full of dried paint are covered with laced gloves, making it look like a henna tattoo. Kristina was all ready, the chauffer opened the car door as her name was mentioned. Everyone present was in awe and amazed by the way she looked. Even Tanner and Cray, as Francis' best men, were mesmerized by her beauty. "I never thought that Kristina looked like a goddess," Cray said.
Francis grabbed her hand, and they faced the altar together. And then, the priest asked, "Do you, Francis, take Kristina, to become your lawfully wedded wife, for richer and for poorer, for sickness and in health, until death do you part?" "I do," Francis replied. "Do you, Kristina, take Francis, to become your lawfully wedded husband, for richer and for poorer, for sickness and in health, until death do you part?" the priest asked. "I do," Kristina replied. "I now pronounce you, Man and wife, Francis, you may now kiss your bride," the priest announced.
Kristina didn't have any veil on, that is why Francis touched Kristina's face and kissed her on the lips. As Francis felt her lips on his, he felt ecstatic. He never felt the same way towards Gina, but Kristina's kiss was different, and he wanted more of it. Francis deepened the kiss and the crowd teased him. "You can continue that tonight!" Cray shouted. Kristina pulled out from the kiss and just smiled at the people who witnessed their wedding. Francis was disappointed.
At the reception, everyone is having fun, some enjoy the food, some enjoy the drinks, some are dancing. Kristina and Francis participated in the dance and they had fun. "Francis, can I have a dance with my daughter-in-law?" Mr. Peterson asked. Francis gave his way to his dad. Francis made his way to his friends and got himself a drink. "Congratulations, bro, you are officially no longer a bachelor," Tanner praised him, "Yeah, unfortunately married," Francis reacted. "You really enjoyed kissing her at the altar," Cray said. Francis said nothing and just finished his champagne.
