"WHAT ARE YOU WEARING?" Oliver exclaimed when Briar walked into the living room. Eddie was sat eating breakfast on the couch which happened to be un-buttered toast. He was a very strange person.

"Clothes" Briar replied simply as she caught her reflection in the mirror behind the sofa. It still caught her off guard even when she had spent the last twenty minutes watching herself.

"Briar what the hell?" Oliver asked as he downed his glass of water and stared at her incredulously, "what are you doing?"

"I think she looks hot" Eddie stated and Oliver threw a pillow perfectly into his face.

Briar supposed hot was one way of putting it, the other would be not like her. Her boots were black with a small platform, they went up to her knees. Her jacket was fake leopard fur and a bit too big for her. The skirt was too short and her shirt a bit too tight. She'd stolen some of Oliver's earrings, small silver swords. There was eyeliner applied badly on her waterlines and henceforth smudged which gave the impression that she could've been partying the pervious night.

"Briar go get changed" Oliver snapped.

"You can't tell me what to do" Briar frowned as she picked an apple from the fruit bowl and sat on the other side of the sofa from Eddie who was getting crumbs all over his Black Sabbath T-shirt.

"Briar you can't go to school dressed like that" Oliver stated simply, "plus I know you're only doing it to try and get Steve's attention"

"I don't need to dress like this to get Steve's attention" Briar took a bite out of her apple.

"Yes well you've never wanted to dress like that before" Oliver pointed out, "so you expect me to believe when only yesterday you were pestering Eddie about being your fake boyfriend that you're now dressed like some... 1970's hooker"

"I'll wear what I want" Briar scoffed, "thank you very much"

"The point is you don't want to dress like that" Oliver frowned, "you're doing it for some bullshit reason. Briar if Steve doesn't like you for you then he doesn't deserve you. Wearing black leather and trying to look cool is just...unfair on you"

"I like it" Briar shrugged.

"Bri" Oliver spoke almost pleadingly, "go get changed"

"No"

"Mom!" Oliver yelled very loudly which caused Briar to flinch.

"How old are you, seven?" Briar frowned and Eddie laughed openly as Mrs Reeves came striding into the room with a confused expression on her face.

"Tell Briar to go get changed" Oliver pointed at his sister as he packed his school bag. Susanna turned to her daughter with a confused expression on her face. Briar simply smiled up at her, lips brushed with a hint of apple.

"You're going to school right?" Susanna asked, "not some night club"

"Thank you" Oliver sighed, "Bri this is high school. There's other times to make a statement"

"I'm not making a statement" Briar crossed her legs, "and I'm not getting changed. I should be able to wear what I want given that I'm eighteen years old. Anyway, if I get changed we're going to be late"

"Mom" Oliver stared at her incredulously.

"If Briar wants to dress like a washed out rockstars girlfriend, that's up to her" Susanna shrugged.

Oliver groaned loudly before he grabbed his car keys from where they were hanging on a small metal hook. He turned and stared at Briar with a challenging glare. She tilted her head back and smiled victoriously at him. Briar knew that in hindsight he had a point. Oliver always did. This wasn't Briar, this was an attempt to prove something maybe not to herself but to her friend. Her best friend who barely even looked at her. Sometimes Briar got the impression that he forgot she was even a girl. Briar was growing sick of it, she just needed this whether her brother thought it stupid or not.
