𝑀 𝑈 𝑅 𝑀 𝑈 𝑅 𝑆 fluttered around him and eyes flickered to him as he sat at the furthest table in the cafeteria for breakfast. Kenji Kishimoto kept his eyes on the egg sandwich in his tray and happily sipped his bitter beverage.
A tray clattered onto the table capturing his attention. A toned young man with dark hair sat down in front of him. Kenji merely glanced up at him then continued eating, "Adam Kent. How can I help you today?"
"I need to have a hidden reason as to why I'm sitting here?" Adam asked.
Kenji shrugged his shoulders, "Well you never sit with me in public...I thought you wanted to keep our conversations a dirty little secret." A sly smirk formed as Adam's cheeks flushed a bright pink.
Ignoring Kenji's words, a flustered Adam spoke again, "I heard that you got the complicated one, Ken."
Complicated...that's what they're calling her now huh, he thought.
"First of all, I don't know what you're talking about and second . . . never call me Ken." Kenji dusted the crumbs off his hands, "Now, is that all you came to say?"
"Oh, Warner wants to see you."
Kenji glared at Adam's nonchalant shrug. "You couldn't have started with that?"
Adam shrugged once more.
Kenji stood with his mug in hand, "Thank you, Adam." He walked around the table and poured the remaining half of his coffee into Adam's bowl of cereal, "Thank you very much."
He walked away leaving Adam with his now corrupted breakfast. "I don't know if I deserved that." He mumbled.
Begrudgingly, Adam took a spoonful into his mouth. He shrugged at the foreign taste in his mouth, "Not bad."
Kenji was fully aware of the stares and the whispers. No one bothered to hide it, and he didn't blame them.
He had gotten the complicated one.
They thought he was lucky.
Lucky to see her up close.
But he was anything but lucky, they were the ones who were lucky. They did not have Warner on their ass twenty-four seven.
Kenji stopped in front of the double, bulletproof glass doors. He took out his badge and held it up in front of a small red light. After a few clicks the doors opened unleashing the frigid air that hid behind them.
