In dark alleys

You were just going home. You weren't looking for trouble, but trouble always found a way to get to you. You heard a scream, and being the dumbass you are, you just had to run towards it. Maybe you were looking for trouble after all? This all could've been avoided, but here we are.

You ran towards the voice as fast as you could, and you ended up in an alley. Then you saw it; the most disturbing thing you've ever had the displeasure to witness so far. You hid, watching silently to make sure you didn't misunderstand the situation.

A man was pulling a woman by her hair, with what appeared to be a meat cleaver in his left hand. "Tomie... If you can't belong to me, and me alone for the rest of our lives... THEN I'LL JUST HAVE TO KEEP YOUR CORPSE! Hah-aha!"... what the fuck? You had to do something, this guy was absolutely insane. You looked around you, searching for anything that could serve as a weapon.

You spotted a loose brick on the wall you were hiding behind. You carefully pulled it out before throwing it as hard as you could behind the man's skull. Crack. Oh. Oh no. The man dropped on the ground, a small puddle of blood forming underneath him. You accidentally locked eyes with the woman. She was staring at you "Um. Hi?" You waved awkwardly, your e/c eyes avoiding her cold, gray ones.

"MY SAVIOR!!" The woman ran towards you and pulled you in a tight embrace. You were at a loss for words, at least until you remembered the (most likely dead) man on the floor. "AAa-um.. I-is he dead?"

You watched the man carefully. His legs were twitching lightly. Good, you didn't just kill someone, that's good. "We should call an ambulance immediately!" You took your flip phone out.

The woman looked at you, disapproval written all over her face. "What for? To get him back in shape so he can assault me again? Leave him to die alone in this dark alley like the dirty animal he is"

Wow. That was unexpected. "Miss, I get you're angry, but I'm not sure I want to be charged with manslaughter because of that. Let's be rational here."

She scoffed. "Or we could put the "laughter" in "manslaughter" and put his corpse in funny poses" she chuckled darkly before quickly putting a hand over her mouth.

Oh wow. She had issues. Wait.. corpse? You looked towards the guy and indeed, he had stopped moving. "SHIT! We need to call the cops!" You were sweating bullets, what were you going to do?! You just killed somebody!

"My name is Tomie, by the way."

What? Her name? You didn't care about that! You were probably going to jail for the rest of your existence! As if reading your mind, Tomie exclaimed "Relax, the police here is absolutely incompetent. I've seen it first hand multiple times" what was she, a serial killer? "What do you mean "first hand" ?" She looked at you with hints of sadness and anger in her eyes, but mostly anger. "Oh, it's not the first time I got attacked, and it's not the first time people end up dying because of it"

What an unlucky woman. No wonder she has issues. Tomie... Why did this name ring a bell?

You weren't so sure about calling the police anymore. While you had a very strong moral compass, you were very much afraid of the consequences you might be facing after this.. incident. Tomie was wordlessly staring at you while you had your internal debate. Huh. Weird.

You made your decision.. You would leave the crime scene without alerting the authorities. You hoped it was the last time you had to do this. Just as you were about to speed walk away, Tomie spoke:

"I.. don't have anywhere to go.." Tomie sobbed, but it looked... insincere, wrong even.

You were in a state of shock, your mind was probably playing tricks on you, this woman just lived through a traumatic event, of course she may act odd. "I have a guest room. You could spend the night there?" It sounded more like a question than anything, you were very uncomfortable with the idea, for some reason. Tomie smiled.

"Wow! You'd do that?! For me? That's so kind of you!" She spoke in a sickeningly sweet tone, before interlocking her arm with yours. You silently made your way towards the place you call home, the strange woman clinging to your arm. You had a feeling you would have to share your home with her for a while.

Your place was not so far away, yet time seemed to go by very slowly as you made your way over there. Tomie was creeping you out, and you had no idea why. You felt bad for thinking this, she already went through so much and probably didn't need you being judgmental on top of it.

You felt as if your reasoning was wrong in every ways around this woman.
