Heading to the charming little cafe once again, Tomie's enthusiastic humming gave you some hope that this day would go just fine. Suddenly, you felt her tugging on your sleeve. You looked at her curiously and extended your arm for her to take once more, however this time, Tomie decided to take your hand instead. She tightly entwined her fingers with yours. Your cheeks grew slightly warm at the gesture, but you did not comment on it. The silence was surprisingly comfortable.

"Do you have any experience with the paranormal, Y/N?"

This caught you off guard.

"Not that i know of." You decided not to mention your suspicions that the whole thing with her and the chopped up schoolgirl was paranormal rather than a shared disease.

She smiled sweetly, but her smile fell a few seconds after it appeared and she tensed up. "That's good.. you've never met anyone like me, have you?"

The question would've seemed a tad narcissistic if she didn't sound so worried about it

How strange

"I did not."

Your answer was simple enough, but it seemed to appease Tomie's worries. She gave you another smile, a gift you secretly cherished.

"Seems we're here already! I'll order this time, give me the wallet! Just go sit, I'll join you once I'm done!"

This was unusual, Tomie usually seemed to enjoy being treated like a toddler and have you do everything for her. Not that you were complaining, this was a welcome change. You spotted a familiar pink haired man sitting alone, eating what seemed like plain toasts and sausages. You decided to sit across him.

"Who's this? Did accidentally steal someone's seat again? I suggest you people stop spending so much time in the restroom, this table is mine now!! Muahahahaha!.. I'm joking of course, here-"

You interrupted him as he was about to stand up. "It's Y/N.. I thought it'd be a nice opportunity to apologize for my friend's behaviour last time."

"OOO (fav band) girl! Yes, i remember. Don't mention it, if anything i thought your killjoy of a friend was funny in a way"

"She is.. peculiar, that's for sure."

A plate with a small strawberry cheesecake was suddenly slammed in front of you. Tomie sat next to you, knife in hand, before cutting the cake while staring daggers at Logan. If he could see, he'd probably very upset.

"Haha.. I'm getting bad vibes. Your friend's here, isn't she?"

Neither you nor Tomie answered this, you didn't know what to say or do. Tomie simply handed you a spoon and began to eat. To say the situation was awkward was quite an understatement.

"Sooo..." Tomie began. "Logan, was it? You come here often?"

"I do actually! The manager loves my music, brings in a few clients!"

Tomie smiled slyly. "I see. I'll make sure to go somewhere else with my.. friend here, next time. If I'm being honest, you're kind of interrupting our outing right now."

You couldn't take this anymore. "Tomie, you need to stop. Why are you like this?"

She looked at you, teary-eyed. "I don't understand, I'M your friend, why do you keep talking to him?! I'm right here, you don't need anyone else!!"

"That's not how it wo-"

Tomie got up and rushed outside before you could even finish your sentence. You sighed. She was really something.

Logan wore a confused expression on his face

"Uh.. A bit of a drama queen, is she?"

You sighed again. "You don't say. I'm gonna go get her, I'm sorry about everything, having healthy relationships with people seems like a new experience to her."

"Well, good luck with that. I'll just.. go on with my day i suppose. I'm not used to people freaking out on me like that."

"I apologize again." You said, before getting up and heading towards the exit.

Tomie was right next to the front door, sitting and looking at the ground ahead of her. You went in front of her and crouched near her level.

"I didn't mean to upset you, Tomie."

She sighed, before looking up at you. "You don't understand. I've... never had a real friend before. Not one that stood up for me the way you do."

You briefly remembered her calling her sister a social reject, but chose not to bring it up.

"You've done a lot for me, and as usual, I've been nothing but trouble in return. You'd have all of the reasons in the world to replace me, and i suppose you'd be right to, but.. I don't want you to."

"I'm not looking to replace you at all. I can have multiple friends, Tomie. You're an adult, you should know that, but I'm sorry if i made you feel like you were disposable; i care about you."

Tomie smiled awkwardly. "I'm actually not used to this whole 'acting like a mature adult and member of society' thing. No matter what I do, people- no, men tend to pamper me, even when I tell them not to. You're different, i tested this today."

"I'm glad you could learn something out of this. Do you want to finish eating the cheesecake with me? You should get to know Logan, I'm sure you'll find him at least tolerable."

"...ok"

You both headed back to your table, and luckily, Logan was still here.

"Hey, Logan. I think we started off at the wrong foot, and Y/N think we should start over. What do you think?"
