He knew I was the boss's ex and he wants to work with me?

This thought was stuck in my head as I was typing the schedules for my new boss. I don't like calling him boss. It gives him too much power but at the same time, it is the reality.

Three hours of sleep didn't help with my dark circles. Thanks to my glasses, I was able to conceal it somehow. But the tiredness of my mind and body didn't help. After starting the job, it had been a while since I got to get a good sleep. My head was hurting and it was a mess but I couldn't give up.

After dozing off for five minutes, I abruptly woke up and slapped myself to get back to reality. Just then, I saw a cup of coffee sitting beside my desk. Iced coffee with cream, there's only one person who knows I like that. Reece.

I finished maintaining the schedule and shut down my laptop. I grabbed the coffee and chugged it down like it was gonna be my last drink. Well, couldn't blame me for I had to continuously work with the bare minimum of sleep. After that, I carried the laptop and walked toward his office, which was only a few steps away. When I was just close enough to the door, I heard a feminine voice.

"You never have time!" The girl shouted.

"I'm sorry Samantha. I'm busy-" Reece calmly replied.

"That's all you ever know!" She screamed and stormed out of the door. As she did that, she glared at me.

She was dressed in a stylish white silk shirt and black trousers. Her short brown hair was perfectly straightened. The little jewelry on her hand, neck, and ear made her look more expensive along with her little purse. If that wasn't enough, she looked pretty even with a little makeup on.

Who was she?

After giving him time to compose himself, I opened the door, "May I come in?"

He glanced at me and nodded.

I opened the laptop and started showing him the schedule that I had planned. He glanced away from his computer every now and then and listened to me as I explained his schedule.

"That's good." He said.

"Thank you," I replied. "You seem to have one hell of a way to start the day?"

"It happens when you don't join family dinners." He replied. "Well, aren't you getting a little comfortable?"

She must be a family member. Why am I getting so worked up by this?

"Right." I sighed, "I must have lost my common sense after working overtime for three days straight." I said every word clearly for him to hear it. He must be a sadist. No wonder he enjoys people suffering.

"You don't get to work in such a big company without putting in the work." He turned to look at me right after clicking the enter button on his keyboard. He placed his hand on my forehead. "No wonder you look like you have a fever."

His simple touch and I could hear my heartbeat ring in my ears. I'm not supposed to feel this way after all he has done. Something is wrong with me.

I jerked my hair back. He raised his eyebrow. His gaze lingered on me for a while. "Please don't touch me so casually," I said clenching my jaw and looking away.

He faintly smiled and turned back to his computer. "I've transferred half of your monthly wage to your account."

I looked up at him, "I appreciate it but I don't understand why."
