"Why do they call it a crush? Because that's how you feel when they don't feel the same way in return. And I don't know why I am still hoping..."

In the weeks leading up to the last semester of his intermediate level and his impending entry into high school next year, Saint had already completed all his projects and special assignments. With everything done ahead of time, he found himself coming to school just for attendance, feeling relatively worry-free until the final school day arrived.
Earlier this morning, with no school work left to worry about, Saint realized he had lost his special pen—the one he used to write in his diary. Irritated, he spent the entire morning searching for it, asking classmates and scouring possible spots where he might have dropped it, but to no avail. As the sun began to set, he felt on the verge of giving up.
"Ha..." he sighed, feeling frustrated and disheartened.
"Will you stop? Can't you just buy new ones and stop sighing already," Seng growled in frustration.
But the distress over losing the pen wouldn't just fade away—it was special to Saint, bought along with his diary book.
As they were about to leave the school premises and call it a day, Saint and Seng stopped by the front of a convenience store, where Saint usually waited for his parents. They both bought ice creams to satisfy their cravings and sat down on the available chairs around the store.
"Is P'Zee still in class?" Seng asked after savoring their ice cream.
"Now that you mention him, I almost forgot to borrow a book from him," Saint remembered.
He got up from his seat, ready to head back to school, but suddenly he heard his name being called from a distance. Turning his attention to the voice, he snorted when he saw who it was.
"Speaking of..." Seng chuckled, amused by the timing of the situation.
Zee ran towards their direction with a book in his hands. Saint watched him approach, seeing Zee like a ray of sunshine shining beautifully.
"Haaa... Thankfully, I caught up," Zee said, panting heavily. "Here," he added, handing Saint an English book.
"Sit down and calm down first," Saint replied, taking the book and offering Zee his chair.
Zee immediately sat down to catch his breath after running from his classroom to find Saint and give him the book.
"When will you get your own phone? It's tough to contact you, especially at times like this," Zee mentioned.
"I'll get one when I enter high school," Saint replied.
"That's great, then," Zee responded, relieved that Saint would soon have a way to stay in touch more easily.
