Chapter 43

Date: Tuesday, May 3rd

"Hey Ashton, I need to talk to you," Luke said while walking into Ashton's office.

Ashton looked up from his laptop that he was typing on and gestured for Luke to sit in the chair in front of him.

"Sure, what about?" Ashton asked giving Luke his full attention.

Luke sat down and then said, "Sophia. When...or I mean if Sophia wakes up how do I talk to her?"

Ashton was confused about what Luke meant.

"First of all Luke. It's when she wakes up not if. You have to be optimistic and believe that she will wake up. Second of all, What do you mean by how do you talk to her?"

"I mean... I don't know ash. Our relationship went to shit these past couple of weeks and I find out it's because she was trying to protect me which just makes me feel like a terrible brother because she shouldn't have had to do that. As her older brother and her only guardian, I should have been protecting her and being there for her. I just feel like I failed her. But how do I talk to her?"

Even though Luke didn't really specify what he meant by how does he talk to her Ashton figured out what Luke needed to hear.

"Luke, you did not fail her. You need to believe that. You are the best big brother she could ever ask for. You couldn't have known she was pushing you away for the reason she did considering there could have been many other reasons why she was doing it. But now that you know, when she wakes up and is ready for the conversation you need to let her know that it is not her job to protect you even if she wants to. You need to remind her that it is ok for her to lean on you for comfort and help and that you will always be there for her no matter what. Luke, my advice from talking to her is she just needs someone to be there for her and that person is actually you despite pushing you away she will always need you. You guys have an amazing bond and I honestly don't think it will ever break."

Luke sat there and took in everything Ashton said. He then said, "Thank you, Ashton."

"Yeah, no problem. I am always here if you need to talk. Quick question, When is the Leslie Amber trial?"

"It's supposed to be sometime next month. They said that they will need me, Calum, Sierra, and if Sophia is awake by then to all testify. To be honest, though I don't know if it's such a good idea to have Sophia testify but I guess we just have to wait and see what happens."

Right, when Luke finished talking his phone started ringing. It was Michael.

He picked up his phone and all he heard was, "Luke get your ass to Sophia's room right now!"

Luke's eyes went wide and his heart dropped. He started running to Sophia's room with a million thoughts running through his mind. What's going on? Is she awake? Is she dead?
