‧₊˚ ☁️₊˚ෆ ͙ chapter twelve: platonic soulmates ˖ ࣪ ‹ ⁺˖ 𓂃♫♫♫𓈒 ⸝⸝ "imagine how he feels!" ⋆ ⋆
the three friends were on their way to the village where grandma chu stayed. jimin was the one driving since she was the only one who had a driving license and hueningkai was sound asleep while eunji was busy admiring the mountains that were covered with snow, the branches of every tree had snow resting on them, and the river that was frozen seemed like a great place for skating.
then she took notice of the familiar village between two mountains, she smiled at the view of it; it had been a long time since she had been here. as they went further, jimin finally parked the car, and told eunji that they must walk to the village from here since there wasn't a road for cars.
"wake up giant penguin, we arrived!" eunji tapped hueningkai on the shoulder, trying to wake him up from what seemed like hibernation, he slowly opened his eyes and got up. "oh we are here already! " he stated excitedly as he eyed his surrounding. and jimin mumbled something about how it has been three hours since he was asleep and huening kai sulked at that.
"please don't start bickering right now, let's just go if we arrive later than this I'm sure aeri will behead us." eunji spoke as she grabbed her bag, and went ahead leaving the two with no other option but to follow her.
after fifteen minutes of walking, they finally arrived, and the distance shout of their friend, aeri made them sigh in relief as they were all already too excited from hiking.
aeri sprinted over to them as she finally got to meet her three friends after a long time. they all hugged but huening slipped since the ground was frozen and landed on his butt, he winced in pain while the girls couldn't stop laughing, then aeri helped him up.
"oh my oh my, eunji you look old already, are you married? you look like a mom with five kids bahahaha" aeri teased teased eunji, jimin and huening kai couldn't help but laugh while eunji playfully glared at them.
"it is freezing let's go home, my parents aren't home it will be our day" aeri cheered and walked ahead, the others followed but hueningkai went to a grocery shop to get some snacks.
jimin and eunji sat on the couch while aeri went to the kitchen to get something eunji's favorite favorite snack.
"here is some fresh pomegranate from the mountains" aeri sat next to eunji with a bowl full of pomegranates, they looked fresh and tasty so eunji couldn't help but hug aeri and then attack the pomegranate and jimin soon joined, munching on the juicy friut. "it's been so long since i have last eaten pomegranates..." eunji said with her mouth full, she closed her eyes as she enjoyed the taste of the fresh fruit she ate the sour ones while jimin was busy tasting them looking for a sweet one.
aeri smiled at the sight, "eat all you want, so why do you want to visit grandma chu?" aeri couldn't hold herself any longer and decided to ask. "erm, it's about my soulmate..." eunji grinned sheepishly. "oh since when have you been curious about your soulmate?" aeri mused, grinning as she raised her eyebrows.
"oh, this dumb bitch does know who he is, but she decided to be an angel and give up on him." jimin answered, her mouth full of pomegranate as she directed a look of distaste at eunji.
aeri looked at eunji warily who suddenly went silent and asked "care to explain?" eunji explained everything in detail as she stared at her feet all the time when she was done explaining she looked up to see aeri's reaction but instead her face met with a pillow that came flying towards her. she winced and slowly looked up to see aeri's annoyed face.
"why are you so dumb? he is your soulmate you should have gone to him that day! imagine how he feels!" aeri scolded and then blankly stared at eunji.
"i know it is kind of dumb but... i-i just thought it would be better she has been crushing on him for five years... besides we will ask grandma if someone else could be my soulmate... and if my soulmate doesn't change i don't know what to do anymore" eunji responded with a low voice. she exhaled in dismay, running a hand through her hair.
"what are you girls talking about? what soulmate?" suddenly, huening kai's voice cut through the tension in the room, he was holding two bags of snacks. "explain, miss kang eunji" he commanded. and eunji sighed.
"I'm tired of explaining this over and over, you girls tell him" eunji replied as she went outside, to clear her mind. she definitely needed a break from this.
˖ ࣪ ‹ ⁺˖ 𓂃THROUGH MUSIC
as soon as she went outside she got lost in her thoughts once again, the wind gently touched her skin, as she closed her eyes and sat on a bench near the house, she then observed the sky, thinking about beomgyu and chaesoo; asking herself if she did a great job by letting them be together and if they are happy together, she wanted them to be happy and to be together but there was also a part of her that wanted beomgyu to be hers so selfishly.
"i'm sure i will move on and they will be happy together" she comforted herself as she faintly smiled, still she knew that it was kind of impossible, she just sat there rethinking life descions until huening kai sat down next to her, she glanced at him and he just flashed her a tight smile. it was obvious he was also frustrated with her decisions but he also knew that she needed support and strength as of now.
"it is okay, don't be sad, we haven't talked to grandma chu yet" he said spoke with a comforting voice as he side hugged her, eunji hummed and nodded. "and everything happens for a reason. don't be overthink it, someday today will be the past and you might be grateful for it." huening kai soothed, and she smiled again "thank you, hyuka" she whispered.
"and hope so, i don't even know how to tell them if beomgyu would stay as my soulmate forever, we should be soulmates and friends right?" she asked, as hueningkai frowned. "like platonic soulmates?" she added to make her point clearer.
"i have no idea." he shrugged and she sighed, looking ahead.
she had so many questions and she knew only one person could answer them.
