"so what's upsetting you about your soulmate?"

after having their breakfast, the three made their way through the forest, finally coming face to face with the small cottage. eunji smiled, a tidal wave of nostalgia washing over her. she reminisced about the old days, remembering whenever she was sick, her parents would bring her to grandma chu, who was known for her herbal medicines. she'd lived all her life in the mountains, making natural remedies.

"come on, let's go," aeri spoke, moving ahead as the others followed her. she knocked on the door and waited patiently. soon, the door opened, revealing an older woman they loved dearly. she lifted her glasses and smiled, recognizing the kids. they all greeted and hugged her as she wished them good luck in their lives. they went to the small living room. it was as organized as before, with no dust to be seen; of course, because grandma chu lived here. even though she was old, she was still healthy and could live by herself, thanks to nature.

"so, what brought you kids here?" she asked in her soft, low voice as huening kai kept side-hugging her. if she wasn't that much older than him, he would've rubbed her belly as he did with his plushies.

"first of all, we missed you, and we owed you a visit... and eunji has something important to ask," jimin answered. the older woman nodded and stood up to get teas and cookies.

"oh my gosh, it's been so long since i've had these. i missed them." hueningkai said with a sad smile while hugging a cookie. the girls giggled at his behavior as they nodded, agreeing, grandma chu told them to enjoy the cookies and that she'd be back in a minute. everyone was busy eating and talking, but eunji was a bit nervous about what grandma chu would say about her soulmate. after a few minutes, grandma chu returned with a book they all seemed to recognize.

how did she know? i-i haven't said a word about it yet.

"i know what you're thinking. i'm sure you have something to ask about your soulmates. you're all grown up now, and you'll need this." grandma chu said as the kids stared at her in shock when she brought out the book. she sat down and watched them enjoy the cookies, giving eunji a look.

"grandma chu, i do have questions about soulmates, actually," eunji smiled awkwardly, scratching her head as she looked at the older woman, who smiled.

"of course... and i'm happy that you finally consider soulmates valid." she answered sweetly. "go ahead, what do you want to know?" grandma chu gestured for eunji to continue, and eunji hesitantly started speaking.

"i remember when we were younger, you told us that our soulmates can change unless... what happens?" she asked.

"it's been a long time since i've read the book. let me check." grandma chu flipped through the pages of the old book, which contained everything about soulmates. it had been kept by her family for generations, written by a matchmaker who could see the threads of fate, using his ability, he wrote some tips to find your soulmate that were all helpful without a doubt.

"there is a chance you could have another soulmate besides your current one, but..." grandma chu paused, looking at eunji, who was very nervous. "but if they enjoy each other's company dearly, to the point that they forget all their problems and obstacles, they will remain soulmates forever. that's what the book says."

"thank you, grandma chu..." eunji beamed while thanking her. she looked down at her lap and got lost in her thoughts, then a dog barking outside startled them

"grandma chu, is that myung? has he grown up?" hueningkai asked. grandma chu nodded, and hueningkai stood up, saying he'd play with myung, while jimin and aeri tagged along. eunji, however, was still lost in thought.

"so what's upsetting you about your soulmate, dear?" grandma chu asked, noticing the sadness in eunji's usually smiley face.

"it's kind of complicated..." eunji answered, avoiding eye contact. but grandma chu gently encouraged her to share everything.

"i'm so dumb, right?" eunji asked after spilling everything.

"mhm... no, not at all. don't worry, everything happens for a reason. believe in destiny." grandma chu reassured the younger with a smile as she patted her back. "i want to know this too... why was i so attached to him even before i spoke to him? we weren't even friends..."

"of course you were... he's your soulmate. soulmates are always attached, even when they say they aren't, they're just lying to themselves." grandma chu explained, and eunji nodded. everything made sense now. she was attached to beomgyu because he was her soulmate. what stressed her most was figuring out how to tell him.

"grandma chu, can i just stay as his friend or maybe a stranger to him, in case he remained as my soulmate." there was a tinge of desperation in her voice, one that grandma chu knew was stressing her.

"it's always your choice, but you know, being with your soulmate is the best... just like how i was with him." grandma chu replied, growing a bit sad thinking of her soulmate who passed away six years ago. eunji remembered how happy grandma chu and her soulmate were, and smiled at the thought.

"but will i ever be happy with beomgyu? i don't even know how to talk to him anymore." eunji thought while sadly smiling.

"why don't you go outside and join the others while i return the book to its place?" grandma chu suggested. eunji nodded, grabbing a cookie as she headed outside.

"i didn't want to tell you that there's a high possibility your soulmate could change because you're sad about him being your soulmate, but i don't want you to lose the one you love either," grandma chu mumbled, smiling as she watched eunji go out is ice, she wanted her to fight for her soulmate.

eunji sighed as she stepped outside, nibbling on the cookie, she now had all the answers she longed to hear but she was even more stressed, because when she thought about all the times she's spent with beomgyu, replaying them in her mind like a memorable scene from an old movie, she knew that every time she was with him, her worries weren't with her, as if they couldn't stay in the presence of him.

now that her soulmate wouldn't change like she thought, what would she do? she winced at the thought, smacking her head before she leaned against the tree next to jimin who was busy recording aeri, as she asked her to take some majestic recordings of her, she finally gulped down the cookie, a frown etched into her face.

"what happened?" jimin asked, trying to capture a pretty angle of aeri who was posing like a model.

"umm, nothing. she just told me not to give up on him..." eunji answered flatly.

"oh, okay. i'm sure you will get your man back!" jimin encouraged, as she smiled, trying to keep her hands steady.
