Well this is great. Just what I need, I'm lost and alone and found by two dwarves.
"What are doing near the Shire?" I inquired.
"I could ask you the same thing." the blond one replied. I don't lower my bow since I'm still wary of them.
"I am accompanying Gandalf to the Shire to join a company of dwarves." I said, still not lowering my bow.
"So are we. Would you like to join us the rest of the way?" The dark haired one inquired , earning a sharp glare from his brother who obviously didn't trust me. I looked around.
"Since it appears that I have been abandoned by the wizard, I certainly will." I smiled gratefully and turned to finish packing my things. I strapped my swords to my back and turned, ready to go. As we slowly made our way to the Shire, Kili decided to interrogate me about my life story.
"So where are you from? You are obviously a dwarf but I have never seen you in the Blue Mountains."
"I'm not sure." Lie. "My mother died in childbirth." Lie again. "I don't know much about my father but I do know he died at the Mines of Moria. What about you? I turned the question back to them.
"We are brothers. Fili is older than me and never lets me forget it." Kili grins at me while Fili turns to ask another question.
"Why do you wear a hood?" I knew this question was coming. Yet I still don't have a response.
"Umm...my face is well known among the eleven kingdoms and their allies, and not exactly for the best of reasons. I wear a hood to protect myself while traveling." Both dwarves nod in understanding. They probably think I'm wanted for stealing or something stupid like that. Probably better to let them believe that.
"Where are you two from?"
"We live in the Blue Mountains but our family is originally from Erebor. Our father died at the Mines of Moria so now it's just us, our mother and our uncle." Fili replied grimly. There was silence for a while as we continued to walk. Suddenly I hear a rustling in the bushes ahead and draw an arrow. I aimed it and held it steady before.....a rabbit hopped out of the bushes. Kili started laughing and pointing at me.
"You...arrow....rabbit"was all I could make out between his gasps for breath.
"Shut up! I've been ambushed one to many times to not be on guard." I growled. They stopped laughing immediately.
"Why are you on this quest anyway?"
Fili responded again. "Our uncle is leading the quest." I immediately stop in my tracks.
"Who is your uncle?" I ask urgently.
Kili respond, looking taken aback at my change of tone. "Thorin, son of Thrain, son of Thror."
Oh no.
