I woke up, disoriented and with a throbbing in my head. Where am I? I looked up to see the site of a car wreck, surrounded with caution tape. It seems to be early in the morning. That's when everything comes back. She's dead. She's gone. But I'm still here. I must have fallen asleep here next to the road. I got up and got in my car, driving back to my house, glad that I'm still alive.
When I got home, my brother and mom were pacing in the living room. I walked in the door, and without speaking, wrapped them both in my arms.
"Where the hell were you, Tony? We thought you'd done something stupid. I was going to call the police," my mother said between sobs.
"I'm sorry I worried you. I'm fine. I just needed to clear my mind." I looked up at Alex as I said this. "I love you," I said to the both of them.
