Ashton smiled at her. That big genuine smile she used to dream about every night.

That smile made her feel like she might just fall right back in love.

"Can we take it slow?" She asked hesitantly.

"Of course! Oh my god of course. I will go at your pace. I will follow your lead." He said reaching out for her hand that she reluctantly gave over.

"I promise Brooklynn, this time will be different"

For her own sake Brooklynn hoped he was telling the truth.

She came home to an empty apartment. Ashley was on her way back from Paris where she was doing some in person fittings and Simone had gone home to North Carolina for her Moms birthday.

Normally she liked the apartment to herself but today it didn't feel as nice.

She wanted Ashley to be there and flick her in the head to tell her she's being an idiot.

"Please tell me you told his sorry ass it was never gonna happen"

She would have said.

"Brooklynn get a grip. He is a stupid boy, he will always be a stupid boy. He didn't grow up he just got better at pretending to be what you want him to be"

A ping from her cell phone awoke her from her internal battles.

It was Timothée.

hey super star🌟

it's been awhileeee

call me!

Her heart picked up a bit. It had been awhile. He had mentioned he would be going to Boston and LA so she knew he'd be out of pocket for a bit.

She didn't realize how much she'd miss him though.

It's crazy how fast she had grown attached to him. As good as it felt right now, she had a nagging fear that it would come back to bite her in the butt.

"Hey" Brooklynn smiled into the phone when he picked up after one ring.

She had face timed him. It wasn't intentional, her finger had missed the call button, but the damage had been done now.

"Hey stranger, how ya been?" He asked getting situated in order for Brooklynn to see him better.

He looked good.

He always did, but something about not seeing him for a while made looking at him much more pleasurable for Brooklynn.

"I've been good, how about you?" She asked enthusiastically. She wondered if she ever had genuinely cared how someone was doing before she met Timothée.

"Eh, I've been okay. Work has been dragging lately... but I'm happy to be back on New York soil!" He said panning the camera around his apartment.

"You're back!" Brooklynn said, probably sounding a bit too excited.

"Yup, got back this morning"

She nodded, a smile still present on her lips.

"You busy right now?" He asked making her heart skip a beat.

For you, never.

She pretended to take a second to think.

"Um... no. Why? What did you have in mind?"

Timothée smirked.
