Chapter 10: The Tale of Fate

Many years ago, Ninjago entered a time of peace as the Elemental Masters came into power, protecting all life from the enemies in darkness. They were the sole source of "light magic" in Ninjago, being gifted abilities that commanded the very essence of the natural elements, from the Ultimate Spinjitzu Master himself. They were the all-powerful force of goodness in the world, sparking hope across every village as they traveled to rid Ninjago from the evil forces lurking in the shadows..

But a young woman, Camila, wasn't satisfied with the so called "peace" when her family's farm was crushed under a spontaneous avalanche, and none came to help them. She had lost it all and she realized despite the power few wielded, humanity was truly at the mercy of nature and fate. She knew she couldn't always rely on the Elemental Masters for everything, and it was up to her, the people, to learn to protect themselves. 

Camila ventured across the entire land in search of her own "light power". One day, she came to the mystical Golden Peaks. It was a mountain range full of blooming forests where the valley's were constantly adorned in the gentle glow of sunrise. She scaled to the highest peak were she came upon the pool of beaming golden lava. Taking her stone bucket, she scooped up some of the lava and took it with her down the mountain. But, as soon as the lava left the Golden Peaks- it turned black and cold..

Curiosity guided Camila's hand as she reached into the pot and grabbed hold of the thick black liquid. The melted rock latched onto her skin and slowly melted into her pores, suddenly burning like fire and turning her black hair a pale, snow white, and her once vanilla eyes, the deepest shade of red wine. 

With one touch of the mystical lava, Camila became the first dark sorceress.

She shared her gift with all who shared in her passion. She built a guild of wizards that banded together to protect others from the plagues and hardships of the lands. These early people, branded by light hair and ruby eyes, became known as the first Spellcasters. 

While Camila had the best intentions with her power, not all  of her followers did. And existed those who sought to turn Camila's vision of protection, into a vision of heedless self-empowerment. Many Spellcasters were blinded by their new-found greed, and let the temptations of the dark lure them deeper into ideas of hollow avarice. Instead of protecting each other from the natural disasters that afflicted their people, these Spellcasters utilized their black-magic in heinous ways across all the world, giving dark magic it's menacing  reputation.

Camila sought help from the Elemental Masters to regain control of her people. The Elementals and the Ultimate Spinjitzu Master, as well as Camila and her untainted followers, banded together and brought justice to all the dark-magic users. However, what was done was done, and Camila feared that there was no redemption for the lives lost to the wayward Spellcasters she  had created. With a heavy heart, Camila and the Spellcasters left their home in search of a new land where they may continue to practice their magic and  avoid further fallacy..

The Ultimate Spinjitzu Master, despite his disapproval of the Spellcaster's magic, agreed to let them seek a new home in peace, wherever they chose. But it was on the agreement that Camila and her people may never  again reveal the source of their power, out of fear of it falling once again into the wrong hands, and may the Spellcasters never  return to the rest of Ninjago.

But when choosing a new land, the Spellcasters became divided and split into two factions: those wanting to take residence above the highest peeks, watching over the land from the safety of the clouds, and getting as far as possible from their darkest roots, and then those wanting to stay in the land, building off the protective valleys of the secluded Golden Peeks, where they may continue to learn and grow from their mistakes. The Spellcasters of the sky built the formidable, renowned Kingdom of wealth and peace, Shintaro. And the Spellcasters of the valleys, forged the secret lands of magic and humility, the Kingdom of Aceri.
