Chapter 4: deception, devastation

Beholder: after sigils current investigation of the new species and the new strain of the disease, Lucy just had her rematch with the man named bando, and seemingly butchered him, which caused Mayu to grieve over him and nana to swear to kill Lucy even though she switched into her Nyu personality, then she overhears nana's conversation with Mayu about the murders she committed as Lucy and begins to weep in sorrow, going to the places she has been there before, replaying the words of all that she said that she's a doomsday machine, as she returned to them, an enraged nana attacked her in the intent to avenge bando and Mariko but Nyu beseech and apologize for what she has done as Lucy. As such, nana noticed the cuts on Nyu's wrist, suggesting that she attempted to commit suicide, feeling she deserve death for the bloody crimes she has wrought as the killing machine Lucy, which caused nana to release her, angry at the fact that the injustice Nyu has brought, but all is resolved when the three young girls returned to the maple house when Nyu is struggling whatever or not she's a killer.

As everyone is enjoying their peaceful time, all come crashing down when the assault force from the Diclonius institute smashed into their home, led by both nousou and the agent along with armed forces, they invade the maple house with the intention of recapturing Lucy and threatening everyone that tries to stop them, only for Kouta is intervene, tackling nousou and threaten her with the gun which gives the agent an opening to shot him through the chest, much to the horror of maple house resident, it also enraging Nyu in the process, unleashing her wrathful vectors on Cynthia and other soldiers outside the house, shown as her powers have grown as she has many more vectors plus, her horns have become wider. As the result of the slaughter, blood is spilled everywhere as Kouta lies on the ground, bleeding on the floor, he thought to himself that he failed to stop Nyu/Lucy from killing everyone, but there, behind the grieving yuka and the rest, an armored clad figure suddenly appears staring at then, they don't know who or what is but yuka beg it to help them, and get Kouta to the hospital, only to hear no response.

Outside of the house Nousou and the clones are hiding, terrified of they've witnessed and mourning the loss of her sister clone, she calculating the vector range between Lucy and mariko clones, and the support of the attack helicopters, but changes her plan to disable Lucy's nervous system and yet, Lucy's new power levels reached behind that of two-meter range and took down one copter, then another hurled towards Nousou only for two remaining clones to save him by using their vectors to lift the fallen copter off, keeping them from being crushed, however Lucy came out strafe them, torture them and to mocks the clones for their love and loyalty for him, making then feel guilty for all the cruel treatment he gave them, even when vulnerable to attacks, they refuse to leave him to his fate, regardless, they are seemingly killed off by Lucy who said that they've stole her life, the very person that kept her from killing the human race, now that he's as she thought to be dead, she swore vengeance for kouta thus, breaking the promise, but her victory is short-lived as one of her horns is short, sending the queen into agony, also at that moment, the course of history is changed as the sigil is holding the holding kouta by the throat.

Lucy looked on in horror as he begins to taunt the fallen queen about her sins of the past and choosing the wrong path when she failed the test, succumbing to the very darkness that molded her into what she truly is: a killing machine that butchers any human being she crossed path with, and this boy's family she killed, was it in the name of your petty hate? Or misplaced jealously? A wounded Lucy struggles to answer as she still saw Kouta held by the throat, then the supposed sigil said "what, no answer?" smiles sinisterly" well then. Allow me to answer for you!" at the terrifying moment, he has done the deed: he murdered Kouta by stabbing him through his heart with his blade, laughing as he enjoys this predicament and then beheaded him in front of Lucy!  

Laughing as he says: Now tell me. How does it feel when you lose someone important to you? In the grand scheme of things. I may be the one delivering the killing blow, but in truth, you are the one who killed Kouta!" laughing in triumph" how ironic! You, the queen of the diclounis killed three birds with the same stone, delightful!" laughing as he throws the head of Kouta, his childhood friend to the ground as she saw in horror, this act only fuels her with rage as the supposed sigil flies in the far distance from her, mocking her as he said" if you really want to kill me, Lucy. Meet me at the mall where your second human friend died, come alone and feel free to kill me, I'm always ready for the duel to the death, after all as the wise man said: Blood is the price of victory." Lucy then lashes out her vectors out at him, only for sigil to disappear in the sky, after seeing the headless body of kouta one more time, her eyes become red and vows to avenge him by destroying the humans who torture her for so long, starting with the man who killed kouta, as she jumps via vectors, unaware to her, the trickster damashi, Bamapa cast the illusion, a fake sigil and the fake Kouta that is enough to break her, sending her into a rage, laughing as he spoke: "my craftsmanship really paid off! who would've thought the killer girl, Lucy, whose true weakness is both her damaged psyche and the love of her life? That stupid boy. Besides, the man is the weakest link in the chain, won't you say?" as he looked at the captured residents of the maple house, and the tied up Kouta.

Meanwhile, at the same mall, the real sigil has finished collecting data and just put all the clues together and the center of all these events is Lucy herself, and the molecules samples he collected are no ordinary disease but a DNA altering agent. The Diclounis virus, even now. The very sickness is slowly and surely destroying mankind, this concerns him greatly, having collected all the information. He chooses to return to his ship to determine his next course of action, only to find himself to be under attack as the unseen force smashes through the wall, forcing the unarmored sigil to hide, and while hiding, he's figuring out who's responsible for that assault, only to discover that it was an angry, vengeful Lucy floating in the hole of the mall, demanding sigil to show himself so he can die, confused and terrified, sigil asked himself "what the hell is going in this world?"

Beholder: the trickster manipulated the blame game so that the monster remains a monster without the very humanity that prevents her from self-destructing, a game that may spell doom for the paragon.
