"Grrrrrrrr, this isn't working", Maddie said agitated.

"These things take time Maddie, you can't just rush things", Maya explained.

"You guys are the ones that have been telling me that time wasn't on our side, putting so much pressure on me. You're unbelievable", Maddie said and storming off.

Maya stood up to go after her but was stopped by her mom.

"You don't have to follow her, she'll come around. Eventually she would know that we are doomed if Chris comes anytime soon but at the same time, she shouldn't force things, it's not her fault that her powers came this late"

"Yeah", Maya concurred.

"I'm so exhausted!", Maddie exclaimed as she laid on the ground after their session the next day.

"You haven't really done much though", Laura pointed out.

"What? Since we got here, we have been concentrated on me, I don't even know what Maya's power is supposed to be"

"Maya hasn't gotten her powers yet. We are still in the phase of figuring out what it is before she starts proper training", Laura informed.

"Oh", Maddie paused and continued, "but what if she's not an aitu, cos my dad said that it's weird for an aitu to get his or her powers late".

"Yeah, it has actually never happened. You are the first case I've seen. And since your dad told me about you, I've been hopeful that Maya would also get hers"

"And what if she doesn't? What if she isn't actually an aitu? Then this would be a complete waste of time and energy"

"Can you guys please not talk about me like I'm not right here. You can forget about me and concentrate on getting Maddie ready for that Chris guy", Maya said and left immediately.

"I brought up this conversation so that we wouldn't have to concentrate on me all the time!", Maddie cried out so that Maya could hear her from inside the tent.

"And surprisingly, you have single handedly made the situation worse for you and every one else, well done", Laura replied before going after Maya.

"Okay, so far, you have been able to get into my head, made me see things that never happened, erased a memory, shared a memory and read my mind, which are all very impressive by the way", Laura informed.

"Which means I've mastered my powers then. So I'm ready",Maddie was feeling confident.

"You are far from being ready young lady.  You haven't mastered anything completely because you are here in the comfort of silence and peace. On the battle field, you would have neither, Chris won't give you the time or space to get into his head so you have to learn to do all of that in combat", Laura continued.

"Combat? You mean like fighting and stuff", Maddie asked.

"Yes, like fighting and stuff", Laura responded.

"So you're going to be teaching me to fight? Aren't you kinda too old for that, is your body still fit for that?", Maddie asked, chuckling.

"You would be surprised how good I am in combat. I'm not going to do it alone though, you're father is coming to join us later today. He didn't come sooner cos he wanted to clear his schedule in the office".

"He's joining us in the combat shit?", Maddie  was surprised.

"Yes he is",

"That is going to be so weird"

"Well, before that, there is one more thing I would want you to try"

"Yeah?"

"This is kind of like your dad's power but I think you can be able to pull it off since it has to do with the brain", Laura explained.
