Draco moved fast along the train. Compartment after compartment flashed by. He sighed. He didn't want to do this. When he reached the particular compartment, he wanted nothing better then to go in there and smile warmly and go make two new friends. But he knew it wasn't that simple. It was never that simple. He slid open the compartment door and the two big cronies that he had picked up on no the train station-his dad was friends with theirs- came swaggering in after him.
Draco forced a sneer that felt wrong on his face.
"So, it's true, Harry Potter has come to Hogwarts,"
"I'm Malfoy,Draco Malfoy," he winced internally after finally starting to say the speech that he had been practicing with his father. Well, more like, his father torturing him until he got it right.
The redhead in the compartment sniggered, and although he didn't show it, Draco was hurt by this. He wanted to be his friend, but he was forbidden.
Swallowing, Draco sneered again.
"Think my names funny do you? No need to ask who you are, red hair, and hand-me-down robes, you must be a Weasley."
The truth is, Draco really actually admired the Weasley family. All their proud Griffindor pride, standing against the Dark Lord when he was strong. He wished he had been born into a family like that.
He internally sighed and forced himself to go on
"You'll soon find that some wizards are better than others Potter, I can help you there." And Draco stuck out his hand, careful to keep up to his wrist covered, otherwise someone might see the scars his father burdened him with.
When Harry declined, Draco was so relieved. With that he forced another sneer and strutted out of the compartment. He told the two cronies-was it Grabbe and Coyle?-that he was going to the restroom. He was really going to find an empty compartment.
He found one and just sat and cried. He cried wishing for a normal family. He cried hoping one day his dad will love him, and he cried begging, that one day, he won't be a disappointment. His father was constantly telling him this, and now with the voices inside his head adding to it, he would just have to put a brave fave on.
He would have to push through.
