The flock of vampire crows turned back into Mallen's vampire form as he landed in front of Iérti, who was helping some people load some of their belongings into the castle. Iérti nearly dropped the bundle, a look of surprise on his face when he saw Mallen. He set the bundle down and went to speak to Mallen in private.

"I got the ships ready," Mallen told him, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "We can start moving people from the castles to the ships. We can find a safe planet for humans to live on and allow them to live there without any of the traditionalist vampires around."

Iérti sighed in relief. "People are still in the process of moving to the castles. Perhaps we should halt the move and wait to transport them to the ships?"

"Let those who have already moved remain in the castles," said Mallen. "Castles are the best protection for them right now. We need to tell the vampire overlords what we're planning."

"Many will object to moving to another planet," Iérti told him. "Most people aren't accepting our help. They want nothing to do with our kind. I've only managed to convince a little over five hundred people to move. Most want to stay behind in their own homes. How will we tell the vampire overlords without alerting Tavaly and the traditionalist vampires of our plans?"

"That I have no clue," said Mallen, sighing. "I was hoping you would know."

"Sadly, I don't." Iérti brought Mallen's attention to another matter. "Another thing, Trésora is still at Blaise's castle. We haven't been able to evacuate anyone of Blaise's settlement to his castle because of her presence.

"Írásom overheard Tavaly talking with about his plans to annihilate half the human population and enslave the other half. Ardai thinks we should place blackthorn around all the settlements even though it would prevent us from coming in. I think shelter at our castles is the best option so we can provide protection for the humans."

"Then continue sheltering humans at our castles," Mallen said. "I'll go send Trésora into the far stretches of the land." He turned into crows, heading out towards Blaise's castle.

Iérti continued helping people move. He was still helping them when he heard loud screeching roars from a faraway distance and instantly looked up in alarm.

Both humans and vampires froze, startled to hear such a terrifying sound. They knew it was one of the fairytale creatures of the past, fearsome ones from the sound of their roar. They knew it was something very dangerous, but they had no idea what it was or what it could be.

Several humans began panicking, vampires either continuing to stay guard or going off to see the source of the roar. Iérti turned into bats so he could see better, going up towards the clouds. He couldn't believe his eyes when he saw three dragons appear in the sky, flying at high speed as they chased a vampire running for his life. was unsure who it was, but he knew it wasn't one of his allies.

"Everyone, inside! Now!" Iérti shouted, urging everyone to get inside the castle. Humans and vampires rushed inside, wide-eyed and terrified. The dragon trio soared ahead, breathing fire down on the settlement as Tavaly fled through it, seeking shelter while trying to escape the dragons' wrath.

Energized by the sight of a large crowd, the dragons split up, no longer focused on one prey. People screamed in fright as the dragons started to burn the settlements, setting fire to everything. Even the traditionalist vampires on the outskirts were petrified by the sight of ancient dragons killing everything in their path. Vengeful of being driven away for so long, the dragons unleashed all their fury, burning everything and everyone in sight.

Iérti was unable to tear his eyes away from the dragon laying waste to his settlement. The other two dragons left to terrorize other settlements. Unable to bear the piercing screams, Iérti dashed out into the open, ignoring people urging him to come back.
