OUT OF TOUCH IN HARMONY

NOT MANY THINGS IN THE WORLD EVER WENT WRONG FOR NOOR AL HADID. It was just how it worked for her; the odds always played just in her favour, the gambles she took always ended up helping her win, and the weapons she chose always ended up at the point she desired for them to. As a daughter of Ares, it was kind of a given that this would be the outcome of her battles—victorious. That didn't change all that much after the Second Titan War. She had led her cabin and one of the biggest armies in history while her sister was coming down from her fit after the Aphrodite girl died. Noor saw what happened to Clarisse, and so, she promised she would never become anyone's Achilles.

UNTIL THAT STUPID PIPER MCLEAN CAME ALONG. SHE WAS AN AVERAGE bratty spoilt rich kid, even if she thought she wasn't. With a not-like-other-girls attitude to rival that of prepubescent middle-schoolers and a rich daddy who doesn't give her enough attention, Piper McLean was, at first, the bane of Noor's existence. It seemed that Piper was literally just an obstacle—something in her way for the better part of their first quest together; always trying to one up her, put her down to look good in front of the white blond kid, insult her and bitch about her behind her back like some second-rate loser. Noor certainly did not have time for an immature idiot to tag along on a quest with a boy with literal amnesia as a leader, and that was the first thing that didn't play in her favour, no matter how long she waited.

NOOR AL HADID AND PIPER MCLEAN WERE AS DIFFERENT AS THEY GOT. NOT a person in the world existed that Noor hated more than Piper McLean; hating Piper McLean came to Noor as easy as fighting with a balanced sword did, but when the idiot finally has a change of heart and starts becoming someone semi-mildly-maybe-only-a-little cool, Noor finds it a whole lot harder to hate her. She hasn't ever given it much thought, but maybe, just maybe, Noor starts to see what her dad sees in the goddess of love; as they say: like father like daughter.

AUTHOR'S NOTE: first off, it's important to mention i've taken a bit of (read: a lot) of inspiration for the introduction part from infantwomanro  on wattpad and have asked for permission for it as well. next, leven rambin is definitely not arab but she's the closest actress i could find that resembles the image of noor i have in my head—i imagine vaguely more middle-eastern features on her, but overall i think leven does her justice best. either way, if you don't like the faceclaim you can just imagine whoever you want, like i am, for both piper and her. onto the fic, i've been wanting to write a daughter of ares for the literal longest time so noor is basically just everything i've ever wanted in a demigod all encapsulated. i think a daughter of ares is so interesting to write bc they definitely aren't the conventional heroine in stories and ofc i am one gay mf so i love women with big muscles™️ and noor is PACKIN. and i love my arab folk so i've been meaning to write an arab character for a while now and now i get to pack all of this shit into one train wreck of an oc which is my baby noor. so here's the thing about piper: i hate her. genuinely, from the bottom of my heart, i find her insufferable. okay maybe that's a stretch (and it's totally cool if you like her too) but it's also mostly her views that i hate, and by extension, her characterisation. but i don't plan on catfishing you guys by using piper's name and face for a completely different character who isn't annoying, so what i'm going to do is keep those misogynistic views and pick me girl attitude and give her some character development instead so that she's still the same character at heart, but a healthier and more grown up version of it. i'll try my very best to make her genuinely cool the way she's meant to be (in my heart i just know she's Cool Hot Surfer Girl™️) and i hope you guys enjoy the slowest ass burn my ass can come up with.

WARNINGS: sexual innuendos/jokes, blood, gore, murder, mentions of suicide, depictions of mental illness and mental health issues, manipulation, dissociation, graphic violence, character death, classism and swearing. there might be more i have forgotten to mention, but warnings will be put in the beginnings of chapters whenever i feel necessary. there will be many dark themes in this book, and if you have any issues with the things i have listed, this book may not be the best fit for you. if you're sure you are okay will everything in these warnings or have a suitable prevention method for any unwanted triggered events, then that's it for the introduction. enjoy reading!
