Danger lingers in the air at the growing threat of war in the air as Camp Half-Blood, only recently having dealt with the siege spelt out by the Second Titan War, and campers all around feel the air thickening familiarly once again, dread seeping into their bones. With resident hero Percy Jackson gone, the camp is dissolved into chaos, leaving two girls at the head to fill the inevitable power vacuum; among them, Noor Al Hadid, daughter of Ares, is swept up in the mess when a blond amnesiac with the personality of a rock, a jittery latino who never runs out of bad jokes and an annoying girl who can't shut up about how much she hates dresses and femininity come along and immediately get a quest that's supposedly the start of a bunch of demigods saving the world (again).
If Noor was being honest, it wouldn't have been all that bad if not for the last one of the quest: Piper McLean, who has decided that all things girly and feminine are all bullshit, and that anyone interested in those topics are worth putting down—oh, and one more thing: impressing the dumb blond of the group by insulting Noor all the time and putting her down for not being conventionally feminine either. Seriously, you can't win with this girl. Over time, matters get worse when McLean starts to get... dare Noor say tolerable, and eventually, she uncovers that there's more to this girl than what just meets the eye.
In the end, this small quest is just the harbinger of something greater. Heroes taught that the end of the world would be the Titans rising once again—as it already had, but as they come to learn, it's only the prelude of something much bigger—something none of them quite understand just yet.
