The clock ticked to 10:52pm. I knew I had to start going soon, but I was really dreading it.

I could just not show up, I thought to myself, or maybe I say I was sick?

The clock's quiet clicking was starting to bug me.

10:54 pm

Even if I left now I would still be late, so I figured it was now or never.

I quietly stepped out of my bed, fuzzy socks really coming in clutch at this point, and sneaked out of my room.

Once I got out into the common room I figured it was safe to put on my boots, so I did.

As I inched closer to the door I pulled my zip up around my body, crossing my arms as I did. It wasn't cold, but I grabbed it as a comfort hoodie.

I carefully walked over to the door, trying not to disturb anyone cramming for exams in the common room, and opened the door slightly, trying to be as quiet as possible. I slipped out, and shut the door behind me.

I let out a sigh, I was actually doing this. I lit my wand. It made a slight glow, just bright enough to see my next step, but not bright enough to draw any attention to it.

I snuck up the stairs and I swear I head multiple people talking higher up on them, but I figured it was just my brain.

While passing the 5th floor I heard one of the paintings start talking, "Ah- I hate those parties. These students can't learn to keep a dim light."

It was a familiar voice, so I put my light a little closer to see Sir Ingus. Not sure what he's from, but he had talked to me for a while when I was a first year, and we still up every once in awhile.

"Sir Ingus?" I questioned.

"What?! Who's there?!" His eyes darted around the room, barely seeing my light.

I moved it up to my face.

"y/n?! What in the world are you doing up at this hour?"

"I-" I began to say, but he cut me off.

"You aren't going to that party, are you? You better not be. You're too..."

I was about the whole party thing, but the end got me a little offended, "I'm too what?"

He pursed his lips, as if he said to much, "You're too much of a Ravenclaw. It's not a bad thing, it's just you are the perfect Ravenclaw student. Always have been."

I crossed my eyebrows, "Well I guess this disproves your suspicion."

I began walking away, and it sounded like Sir Ingus already fell back asleep.

I walked up to the 7th floor, and when I got up to the top I moved to the right a little. I stood there for probably 5 seconds, not sure when Mattheo would show up, so I unlit my light. Snape was known for consistently pacing these halls at night, so I figured I'd be safe.

A few moments later I heard a "BOO!" from next to me.

I jumped back, my life flashing before my eyes.

When I refocused my eyes I saw Mattheo Riddle with his lit wand, grinning like a maniac.

"Somebody's late," is all he said.

"You scared me!" My hand was on my chest, and I could feel my heart racing.

"Come on, it's not that bad. You're here to have fun! Remember?"

"Sure, sure. whatever." I rolled my eyes and he grabbed my hand.

"Okay, follow my lead. Snape is down a few halls so we might pass him. If we do, don't make a sound. Okay?"

"Right, okay. Where are we going anyway? One of the paintings said something about a party?"

He unlit his wand and began leading me somewhere, "One of the paintings? Geez, you still sound like a Ravenclaw who never has any fun."

"You're still ignoring my question." I pointed out, trying to ignore the fact that it was the second time tonight that someone used my house as an insult.

"You'll see."
