Always

Chapter 12

I wake up in the hospital with tubes and wires all over me. I look up and Peeta's in a chair in front of my bed. There are tears falling down his cheeks. "Katniss! I'm sorry! It's all my fault!" Peeta starts crying harder. It's really strange to see him cry. I don't like it. It makes me sad.

"Peeta, please don't say it's you fault! It's not! It's the capitals! You know that!" He keeps crying. I'm going to start crying soon if he does not stop. I think of something to encourage him. "Is Emily ok?" I ask. This sort of makes his stop crying, which surprises me because I didn't mean for that sentence to encourage him. "Thankfully, yes. Right now she is at Gale and Ella's. I smile and he smiles back.

A few minutes later, Gale and Ella walk in. Ella, (who is holding Emily) turns Emily around and says "Look! There's mama and papa!" Emily laughs. "Mamma paapa!" Everyone gasps. I laugh. "Emily said her first words!" I say amazed.

While everyone is laughing, I notice Gale staring at Peeta. He is also sort of not paying attention to what's going on. "Gale, what's wrong?" I ask nervously. Gale keeps staring. "Gale? What's wrong?!" I ask again. Gale looks up. "Him." He says pointing at Peeta. "What..?!" I ask even more nervously. "I don't want him hurting anyone." He says. "Gale, he is fine! He is not going to hurt anyone! We will find something out to stop him from having these episodes!" I say with my blood starting to boil. Peeta looks at Gale, then at me. "Yes but what's going to happen until you find an answer? You and the baby might me dead by the time you find an answer!"

I'm about to scream at Gale when Ella jumps in between us. "Please stop fighting! I'm sure we can find an answer before Peeta kills or hurts anyone! We just can't mention anything that will cause...um, things that will make Peeta go crazy! We can find a way without fighting with each other!" Gale nods his head in agreement. "Ella's right. We should..." "OH YOU SHUT UP YOU..." I start but we were both interrupted by Peeta. "PLEASE STOP BOTH OF YOU!" He yells.

We are all quiet for a minute or two and the only noise is Emily crying into Peeta's arms. I look around the room and notice that Ella is sitting by a table with her head resting on her hands. I thought I saw a tear fall down but I'm not entirely sure if it was.

Finally, Gale speaks up. "Peeta, I'm sorry. I just care for Katniss because she is my oldest friend, and I would be extremely sad if she died. Katniss, I'm sorry for making you upset about Peeta. Ella, I'm sorry for fighting." He walked up to hug and kiss Ella. Next Peeta spoke up. "Gale, I'm sorry for upsetting you about Katniss. I would never hurt her on purpose. Katniss, I'm sorry for hurting you."

I don't want to apologize to Gale, but I know I have to. I start with apologizing to Ella. "Ella, I'm sorry for continuing on the fight. And Gale...Gale..." I'm having a hard time talking to him after what he said about Peeta. I would never forget how I felt about it. I feel Peeta squeeze my hand again. "Gale, I'm sorry about fighting." I manage to squeeze out.

Now we start talking like nothing ever happened. After about 10 minutes, Gale and Ella leave. They leave Emily with us this time. After about 10 more minutes, I fall asleep. I wake up in about an hour and all the tubes and wires are off of me. Peeta rushes in with Emily and excitedly announces that I can go home!
