avery begins clocking out of work and hangs up her bright green apron on the hook in the back office as her brother, ashton, walks in holding two very upset one year olds. she sighs softly smiling at the bunch before grabbing phoenix and penelope from her brothers arms.

"hi munchkins, its your first birthday today please stop crying, we have a party to get to." she kisses each one on the forehead as they both begin calming down. she smiles at her brother before following him out to his car.

"hey i hope you don't mind if calum comes by, you know he loves these kids like they're his own." ashton says to her before he hops into the front seat and begins driving away from her workplace. she hums in response before looking in the backseat to see the twins sleeping softly in their car seats, their hands linked together. snapping a quick picture and turning around in her seat again watching as her brother pulled into their, well his, driveway.

"surprise!" calum yells as everyone walks in the door, ashton holding penelope and avery holding phoenix. the two babies started cheering happily as they both reached for calum at the same. "come here kiddos, uncle cal has some gifts for you."

"dada!" the twins scream at the same time before cuddling into his shoulder.

"no no im not your dada sweet ones." he mumbles carrying them into the kitchen.

"you dont think he's-"

"dont even say that ash. i couldn't do that."

right? i couldn't sleep with my brothers best friend. number one rule of being a baby sister.

"i dont know ave. they do look alot-"

"please stop. i dont know who it was. it was a one night stand and i was shitty drunk dude."

"at our birthday party... where the only people were family, cal, luke, and michael." avery sighs in response watching as calum puts the twins in their high chairs and gives them their favorite snacks, cheerios.

"ash, you know damn well there were more people than that." she snarls. ever since she's had these sweet babies ashton seems to believe that calum is the father.

calum watches as avery and ashton have their conversation, knowing exactly what its about. whether or not he's the dad. and well who knows for sure.

you see, they used to be just a group of 4, calum, ashton, luke, and michael, then luke and michael got girlfriends. next thing you know ashton has a long lost sister that showed up on his door step. no one could deny the fact that they were related.

«flashback»

ashton and calum were sitting on the watching some stupid reality tv show when the doorbell rang.

"you expecting someone bro?" calum asks looking at ashton. he shrugs before opening the door to see a short girl with the brightest and curliest red hair youve ever seen. she's holding a duffel bag in one hand and a folder in the other.

"uh. hi. i'm avery.. your sister." she says uncertainty laced in her voice, ashton noticed  her tear stained cheeks and puffy eyes as glaced up at him.

"uh what? come in, please"

"yo ash who is it?" calum shouts before making his way into the hallway to see quite possibly the most gorgeous girl he's ever seen. he notices how broken she looks and just wants to wipe her tears as she looks down at her feet.

"cal. this is my sister? i think. i uh, dont know." ashton stutters before leading avery into the kitchen where she slowly takes a seat at the bar. silently she hands ashton the folder thats been in her hand all day.

"i um. did a dna test for school. and i found you. dad kicked me out. said i wasn't supposed to know, and-" she breaks down at this, sobbing. ashton quickly wraps his arms around the frail girl holding her tightly, making eye contact with calum.

"im gonna go call the boys.." calum mutters before exiting the kitchen.

«flashback over»

calum remembers that day fondly, he hasn't had another girlfriend since that day. he is infatuated with avery and he knows its wrong to like his best friends sister but he cant help it. she's gorgeous.
