It would take more than Just Bombs to destroy it.

Since the Fort rested along a river the Russians Needed to Pass in order to go to the Captial, this was vital to take, But they was 3 Underlying issues with this task.

This made the Advance more difficult, They already sent ahead to Have the Newest Motorize Division, Which was Green, right out of training to secure their rear, currently they were only at Ejey, it would take another day before they arrived

The second was that The men they could spare for the attack was only 2000 men, the rest had to keep pushing, this meant that should the 60 000 not surrender and somehow win, Then the real possibility of rear attacks would be real and The Russian War Effort could take a hit. 

The Last was the Possibility that some Nation, stronger than Russia or having lots of power over others could force the war to end, giving Russia Little gains, which would upset the Population a lot.

General Vatutin decided the most safe outcome was to have the Jets drop Missiles on them and have the 2000 Men attack with full force.It was risky but it would pay off as Missiles would give off enough damage to destroy it in one huge attack, Hence they could on paper destroy the base without needing to use the Infantry.

As they waited for the Jets to come over them, The men of Both sides looked at each other with Hostility, to the Russians, they were Men that were going to commit Genocide and had no Problems doing so. But the Laurians, they were Invaders that were killing them in Gigantic Attacks.

After 30 minutes of waiting, they finally saw the Jets come closer, they saw 80 Missiles come out under them, they were the Air to Surface Kh-59 Missile, As they Flew by, A Shrill of death rained on the Base, Causing Giant explosions across the Base, the screams of the enemy was heard, But to the surprise of both the Russian Pilots and the 2000 Men on the Ground, The Fort was still standing, it seemed that the Fort would have to be taken by force.

''Get the men to advance and be wary. Comrades can't die for a small fort, Use the Motorize as we advance, We will take the first wall first and see what to do next'' He said

As the orders went out, A Siege would happen, Despite the Missiles killing half of the defenders, they still stayed in the Fort, which would only delay the entire War, This War Plan was devised by Alexander Zhukov, which was to take all of the Kingdom in 10 days, But it also was specifically made for the Entire Military Doctrine of Deep Battle Plan, the Doctrine of their Military since the 1930's.

But even with Bralau still being in Laurian Hands, They were still making very good Progress, In Fact, in 48 hours they Planned to only have at the best some 20% under their control, But they had reached 33%, as an entire Vassal Kingdom in the south laid down it's arms the second a Russian unit came in in exchange that no one be killed, since the Russians were abiding by the Geneva convention. this was not a problem.
