Quinn ran through the woods, feeling like her heart was beating out of her chest as she found a good sized tree to hide behind. She let her chest fall and rise fast, as her black amulet glowed under the moon's light. Hot tears threatened to spill from her tears as she realized what she had to do, and what this meant.
At this moment, she wished Morpheus was here to save her, she wished hard and long, hoping that in some way he heard her pleas for help. She knew she should have listened to her gut and waited until she was with her husband to even attempt the spell but she couldn't.
The snapping of a branch behind her, caused her to hold her breath and when she turned around she saw-
NINE HOURS EARLIER
Quinn rushed her way home, knowing that Death was going to report back to Morpheus. Even if she didn't tell him her exact location, she would tell him that she saw her and she did not want to deal with that.
Quinn breathed out as she slammed the door to the apartment, seeing Rose and Jedd sitting at the table as they ate. Rose looked up from her plate and she raised an eyebrow.
"Are you alright?" She asked and Quinn nodded and spoke.
"Yeah, just fine."
"Are you a witch?" Jed asked, raising a dark eyebrow at the young girl and Quinn shook her head with a laugh as Rose looked at him with wide eyes.
"I'm not a witch, I cast spells because I was taught magic." She said and Jed raised an eyebrow. "So what are you?"
"I am what they call a Donatur. Which is a being- that holds the gift of one of the seven Endless." She said.
"How did this start?" Jeddy asked with curiosity and Quinn smiled and walked to the table.
"My guess- an endless had some sort of a romance with a Hayes woman many centuries ago."
"Which powers do you have?" He asked, looking at Quinn with a smile and Quinn furrowed her eyebrows inwards, not really knowing herself.
"I-I'm not sure." She said and Jed nodded and spoke. "Well, I'm sure your powers are badass." He said causing Rose to gasp and Quinn to let out a holler.
"Alright, I gotta go take a shower." Rose said and Quinn let out a small laugh and watched as Rose got up. Quinn made her way into the kitchen and grabbed some orange juice and Jed spoke.
"Are you ever going to go back to the Dreaming?" He asked and Quinn looked at him and then furrowed her eyebrows inwards.
"Sometimes. I think for right now though I need to clear my head." She said and Jed nodded and spoke. "I'm sorry for what happened." He said and Quinn furrowed her eyebrows inwards, wondering why he was asking her this and a tap at the window cause her to jump. She looked, seeing a tree branch and she breathed in deep.
She shook her head and went into her bedroom.
It was past eight as Quinn's feet hit the pavement of New Brunswick, New Jersey. The spell book was in her hand as some candles were in her bag. She made her way off the side road and into the woods as she began speed walking to her spot to help conjure the draugr.
She made her way to the spot in less than twenty minutes and then took off her bag and placed her candles in a large circle. Her hair was up in a ponytail and she wore all black. She placed the book on a rock beside her and she waved her hand over the candles and they lit up.
She breathed in deep and looked down at the book and then looked up at the night sky, seeing the full moon directly over her. She took that as her sign to begin the enchantment and she spoke into the woods.
"Sicut loquor, sic erit. Ducens de potentia et elementis aeris, terrae, ignis et aquae. Afferte mihi Draugrum qui matrem meam occidit, dimittatur in noctem et decepta in incantatione mea." She said, loud and full and within seconds a large being was in the middle of her circle.
Her eyes widened as she laid her gaze on the half dead creature of the night and her breath caught her throat as she realized that this was the one who killed her mother. The creature turned it's face towards her and Quinn's eyes widened as she saw it's brain peaking out from half of it's open skull. It was missing some hair on it's head and it's teeth were rotted out. She knew that this thing looked more like a zombie out of the Walking Dead which she wasn't exactly prepared for.
"Who... are...you?" It asked, as it breathed from it's mouth.
"You killed my mother." Quinn said, a snarl on her face as she stared at the thing.
"How dare you question me, Queen of the Dreaming?" It asked and Quinn went to speak but it stepped out of the circle causing Quinn's eyes to widen. It looked at her and began walking towards her, and Quinn broke out into a sprint, not preparing for this.
"I am going to kill you, just as I killed your mother, Quinn Hayes." It said outloud.
The snapping of a branch behind her, caused her to hold her breath and when she turned around she saw the Draugr standing behind her. She went to scream but a force pushed the draugr back, causing Quinn to turn and she saw Morpheus standing behind her, his hand out as he pushed the draugr back. Quinn's eyes widened as she looked at him and then Aislynn stepped out behind him with her sword and she went after the draugr, getting ready to bind him to Earth for the time being.
Morpheus looked over at Quinn who had tears running down her cheek and he spoke, looking at her.
"Didn't I tell you that I would protect you with all that I am, my love?"
