₊❏❜ 68 - I Opened Your Letter... ࿐▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃
"MIRAE, I WILL BE HEADING out for work and I will be back in the evening. I left some porridge in the kitchen, you can have it whenever you are hungry!" Jinae reminded Mirae before she left for her work.Thud. Mirae heard the main door shut closed signalling that Jinae was finally out and Mirae was all alone at the hut. Mirae then took out the bag she had kept secret in her closet, together with her favourite dagger, ready to take this opportunity to leave this country and perhaps seek a place where she would forget whatever happened here for as long as she could.
Her dagger... She halted as memories flashed across her mind when she recalled what she had done to Heeseung with this dagger. The time when she stabbed him near his heart out of anger. Even though it had been months since that event, she still could remember everything that occurred during that situation, even the smallest details like the time, and how Heeseung's eyes still showed a bit of concern despite her already piercing the dagger into his chest.
"If I could turn back time right now, I would stab you even harder and more accurately. I will make sure to stab your heart with all of my force so that you can experience how much pain I am feeling right now." She scolded him as if he could hear and respond to her.
But there was no such thing that could allow her to turn back time magically in this cruel world. She then sighed and clenched the handle of her dagger tightly as she place it in a secret dagger sheath just in an emergency case.
"I guess I'm good to go!" Mirae told herself in a merry tone, hoping that her tone would cheer her up at least the slightest bit. She took her last look around Jinae's house, making sure that she did not forget anything. She had closed all the windows and checked that Jinae did not accidentally leave the stove on or anything and she had also already prepared a letter for Jinae about her leave and placed it on the kitchen table.
"I guess this is where we part Jinae. Thank you so much for letting me stay here." Mirae muttered as she carried her bag and walked to the door.
Unknowingly, her hand was caught in something which stopped her from leaving. Curiously, she turned around only to see the fading red thread tying itself to the room of the doorknob where she stayed in.
"What's wrong now? Did I forget something?" Mirae thought and went back to her room, looking around all corners but, there was nothing much laying around other than Jinae's furniture.
However, the red thread tugged onto her pinky again, signalling to her that there was something that she forgot dearly. "What is it? What is it?" Mirae got slightly annoyed since she was afraid that the red thread was just wasting time so that Mirae would forget about leaving this place.
"There's nothing here. I-"
Just before she could continue, her eyes caught sight of a letter on the small table near the closet.
"Heeseung's letter..." Mirae muttered and then, the red thread stopped bugging her any further. Noticing that the red thread was trying to gain her attention for that, she deeply sighed and went to pick up the letter carefully with her hands.
It's a goodbye letter. Mirae assumed based on whatever had happened. The reason why she did not dare to open the letter was that she had no guts to face the truth of the end of her relationship with Heeseung. However, now that she had thought about it all for so long, she did not mind reading the letter. It was already expected of what is inside.
Looking at the red thread again, she then gave in and opened the letter. Unfolding the piece of paper and her eyes unexpectedly met with bright red painted words on it.
YEO MINJUNG IS FOUND TO BE ONE OF THE CREATORS OF BLACK POISON.
"What?" Mirae stood rooted to the ground as she read the words written in front of her over and over again.
─────── flashback...
"Just leave." Mirae close the door but, he slid his foot, halting her from doing so.
"What else do you want?" Mirae glared at him.
"Did you at least read the letter I wrote for you?" Heeseung asked. She must... At the very least, read it. She has to...
"No, I burnt it. Stop trying to bother me anymore. It's really exhausting for both of us to be like this. I hope you understand."
"I don't really like this ending for the both of us either. But, you have to accept that..."
"This is our ending." Mirae finished her sentence and shut the door after pushing his foot out of the door.
─────── end of flashback...
"Is this why..." Mirae finally understood why Heeseung was trying to force her to read his letter.
Her mouth trembled in fear upon realisation. She had been neglecting Heeseung's feelings too. She admitted that she was wrong for that but...
Is this all too late?

--- ( ✍︎︎ ) notes 📝 ---
IM SO SORRY I FORGOT TO UPDATE CAUSE I HAD TUITION!
Out of curiosity, I decided to take a video of myself while typing a section of this chapter and I realised that I have been typing all of this with the straightest face of mind. There are absolutely no kinds of emotions. The entire time it was just complete silence excluding the sounds coming from my fingers as they make contact with the keys of the keyboard.
A dead face. I swear I have never seen myself so dead with anything before. But, I swear I loved writing this book.
Qn: What will she do next?
A: ignore his letter and move to another country, it's too late to turn back
B: cries in despair as she realises that she could not help him anymore
C: thinks of a plan and forces her way through into the palace
D: marry Jake
(idk about the jake part, a few people were mentioning his name, hoping that this Australian dude would just magically appear and somehow decides to marry Mirae.)
Oh, do y'all prefer current reality books such as high school romance or business romance or do y'all rather historical romance like for example, this book?
AND, DON'T ATTACK ME FOR THE NEXT CHAPTER!
Istg that minjung and heeseung bed scene blasted my notifs! I mean...
Not that I don't like it 😏😏😏
