I awoke in an empty field. I stood up, wind blowing my hair across my face as I scanned around me. About 30 yards away from me was a herd of walkers. I reached for my knife, which was gone. "Damnit!" I yelled, slapping my thigh. The group was heading straight for me. I turned and ran to a tree I didn't remember seeing earlier. I tried to climb it, but it was no use, as the branches snapped under my hands. At least I had a weapon, well, a branch. I turned to see the walkers only twenty feet away from me. I heard a voice yell my name, and when I looked past the zombies to the noise, I saw a red brick wall. Then a gun went off.
"Kendall!" The voice screamed loudly. It was Glenn. I knew I had to get to that wall, to Glenn. I ran around the walkers, knocking three to the ground with the branch, which tripped a few others. Glenn was banging on the wall and screaming my name. His voice was cracking and desperate, I'd never heard him like that before. I managed to scale the wall, but fell over to the other side, landing in a pool of blood from a killed walker.
He was laying next to it, his arm tattered and bloody. "Glenn!" I scream, tears immediately filling my eyes as I sat him up against the wall. He had tear stains down his cheeks, but had stopped crying when he saw me.
"I thought I would never see you again." He breathed, each word sounded painful to get out. I looked down at his arm, to see a bite mark. His forearm was bleeding heavily, and I could see the teeth marks in the wound. I looked up to him, and put a shaking hand over my mouth. He was panicking, but shook his head and whispered, "it's okay, it's okay." He pulled his wound away and cupped my face with his hand. He pulled me close and kissed me. Our lips pressed against each other for the last time, I wrapped my arms around him.
"I love you so much." I breathed in between kisses. He pulled away before reaching behind him and pulling out a gun. He held my hands and carefully set the gun in them.
"Kendall, you know what will happen to me-" I started sobbing, my body shaking as I pushed the gun away from us.
"No!" I screamed, burying my face in his chest. He wrapped his arms tightly around my trembling torso.
"Please, don't let me turn." A tear fell onto my shoulder as he tried to slow his breathing. All I could do was stare at the gun and shake my head. He shook my body before squeaking, "Kendall please don't let me be one of them!" He raised his voice and began shaking as tears trailed down his cheeks. He was scared.
"I won't I promise." I reached for the gun and set it in my lap. Before I could look up he kissed me on the forehead, his body falling onto me, limp. "Glenn!" I screamed his name. "Glenn! Please!" I pushed him back against the wall. I grabbed the gun and scooted away from his body. "Glenn I'm so sorry!" I yelled at him. I didn't say goodbye. Maybe he would wake up, maybe he just passed out. He was bleeding a lot. I should have said goodbye. I stood up and backed about ten feet away from him and gathered myself. I stopped crying, and pointed the gun at his lifeless body, my face expressionless. "Kendall.." Someone was calling my name, but I didn't look to see who. I had to obey Glenn's wishes. I couldn't let him turn into one of those monsters. "Wake up..." The voice became louder but I didn't turn around. I cocked the gun and looked at his beautiful head. My finger was on the trigger, all I had to do was pull it. I was scared. I took a deep breath before looking down the sight, lining up a perfect shot. "I love you Glenn" I whispered.
"Kendall, wake up." Glenn was sitting over me, one hand laced with mine, the other wiping a tear off my face.
"You're alive!" I pulled him down on top of me, hugging him and kissing his cheek.
"Yeah? Are you okay?" He said as he pulled me up off the ground and into his arms."You must have had a pretty bad dream, you fell right off the bed." He laughed and sat against his pillow.
"Yeah, but I don't want to talk about it right now." I sat against him in the bed, ready to fall back asleep in his arms. "Okay, goodnight." He leaned his head over to me as I leaned into him more. I was surprised he wasn't curious enough to ask, but thankful too. He respected me, and I respected him.
"Love you Glenny" I said quietly. Glenny? That was a new one. I laughed softly before I dozed off, excited to spend my first day with my boyfriend.
